Islamic Web site claims revenge killing Video shows beheading of man identified as AmericanBREAKING NEWS The Associated Press Updated: 1:28 p.m. ET May 11, 2004CAIRO, Egypt - A video posted Tuesday on an Islamic militant Web site showed a group affiliated with al-Qaida beheading an American civilian in Iraq, saying the death was revenge for the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by American soldiers.

The video showed five men wearing headscarves and black ski masks, standing over a bound man in an orange jumpsuit — similar to a prisoner’s uniform — who identified himself as Nick Berg, a U.S. contractor whose body was found on a highway overpass in Baghdad on Saturday.

“My name is Nick Berg, my father’s name is Michael, my mother’s name is Susan,” the man said on the video. “I have a brother and sister, David and Sarah. I live in ... Philadelphia.”

After reading a statement, the men were seen pulling the man to his side and putting a large knife to his neck. A scream sounded as the men cut his head off, shouting “Allahu Akbar!” — “God is great.” They then held the head out before the camera.

Berg was a small-business owner from the Philadelphia suburbs, his family said Tuesday.

"I want you to know that I hold 60 Minutes, as well as CBS News responsible in part for Mr. Berg's murder in Iraq.

It was your greedy "sweeps" mentality that led you to show the pictures of abuse in Al Gharib prison. It was not necessary to show those pictures, as justice could have been assured without them. Your network is blatantly biased, and has been anti-war from day one. You have damaged America, and cost American lives with your insatiable liberal partisan actions.

I will NEVER watch another CBS program as long as I live! I will actively work towards bringing American Media back into being news reporters, not newsmakers.

Thanks for making the War on Terror more difficult to win.

The only people to blame in this beheading are the people holding the knife. Our anger (and believe me, I am steaming) is being directed at the wrong entities. While the prison abuse pictures may have an effect on your average Iraqi citizen or a fence sitter, these b@stards that kidnap an American citizen, a noncombatant, and film his horrific execution didn’t just decide to do so because of a few naked Arabs. 60 minutes, CBS, CNN, Demoncrats had nothing to do with this. Our phone crusade (poor choice of word) should be directed at the administration letting them know that we support them and expect events like this to not go unanswered. We don’t need another “overwhelming response” like in Fallujah. I want to see the people who did this, their supporters, the encouragers, their abettors, their neighbors, their religious leaders and anyone who will not condemn this act dead. This politically correct method of running a war is more responsible for this man’s death than the news agencies.

If we need to contact the news media for anything it is to inform them of our expectation that this story get the same coverage as the Abu no Garb prison party.

The dim pols and their media lackeys had to expose the pictures, rumors, hoaxes etc. because after all "the people have a right to know" - we knew, prosecution was underway, it was being handled - and certainly handled better than any of the critics could ever do.

I believe "the people have a right to know" about this even more and the video should play in every media outlet that played the "horrific torture" pictures of the prisoners for comparison.

There should be a warning so children can be spared, but the rest of us need to be reminded of just who our troops are fighting in Iraq.
