Islamic Web site claims revenge killing Video shows beheading of man identified as AmericanBREAKING NEWS The Associated Press Updated: 1:28 p.m. ET May 11, 2004CAIRO, Egypt - A video posted Tuesday on an Islamic militant Web site showed a group affiliated with al-Qaida beheading an American civilian in Iraq, saying the death was revenge for the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by American soldiers.

The video showed five men wearing headscarves and black ski masks, standing over a bound man in an orange jumpsuit — similar to a prisoner’s uniform — who identified himself as Nick Berg, a U.S. contractor whose body was found on a highway overpass in Baghdad on Saturday.

“My name is Nick Berg, my father’s name is Michael, my mother’s name is Susan,” the man said on the video. “I have a brother and sister, David and Sarah. I live in ... Philadelphia.”

After reading a statement, the men were seen pulling the man to his side and putting a large knife to his neck. A scream sounded as the men cut his head off, shouting “Allahu Akbar!” — “God is great.” They then held the head out before the camera.

Berg was a small-business owner from the Philadelphia suburbs, his family said Tuesday.

I think most of us can make due without the pictures.

Most of us could have done without the endless replay of the "abuse" photos also. The photo of the savages holding the severed head should be as widely shown. Instead we get the reading of the Al Queda propaganda statement. Who wins in this propaganda round?

Yes, the Islamists who committed the crime get the direct blame, but the democrat party and the media do carry a portion of the blame for this specific death. They whipped these people into a frenzy and provided the excuse for them to grab this man and decapitate him. For the record, the people who played their little games with the camera in the first place bear a portion of the blame for this as well.

I have seen the beheading of the Russian soldier in Chechnya. I would say to behead someone in one smooth blow you need a sword or an axe. The Arabs like to do it with a knife, and yes, the victim does get chance to scream.
