McCain: Don't Probe Kerry's Atrocities

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who says the Bush administration needs to come clean about the Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal as quickly as possible, said Monday that he didn't think it was a good idea to investigate Sen. John Kerry's admission that he committed war crimes in Vietnam.

"I just hate to keep going back and revisiting the Vietnam War over and over again," McCain told radio host Sean Hannity, when asked if Kerry and his supporters weren't being hypocritical in calling for Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's dismissal over the Iraq prison flap.

"The very people who are so up in arms who are calling for Don Rumsfeld's head are supporting a guy who admits to burning down villages of innocent civilians," Hannity pressed. "So, I mean, is there an inconsistency there?"

McCain responded meekly, "I'm sure that there is."

After listening to audio from a 1971 interview where Kerry admitted he violated the Geneva Convention in Vietnam, McCain said he didn't think the issue was worth investigating given the strife it would cause.

"There's still so many of our veterans who feel so emotional about this issue that it digs up all of this controversy," he explained.

The Arizona Republican was far less timid about questions on whether Secretary Rumsfeld knew that Iraqi detainees were being abused at the Abu Ghraib prison.

Asked if he didn't agree that Rumsfeld had been a strong defense secretary, McCain equivocated.

"I agree with all of that but there is one strong caveat, OK," he told Hannity.

"And that is let's find out what the chain of command was, who gave the orders, who, if anybody, instructed these guards, what was their relationship with the interrogators, what was the story with the private contractors - all of those things have to be cleared up."

Our leftist media is thowing mud that I believe may end-up on Kerry. Sure they are aiming at Bush and Rumsfield, but once the average soccer mom hears what Kerry admitted he did in Vietnam were will the mud land. It is probably to early for the Republican's to play this card. There is still time for the Democrats to dump Kerry.

Even if we ASSUME that effingkerry was LYING about the WAR CRIMES it should be investigated. I believe also that his attendance and complicity involved with the PLOT to assassinate pro-Vietnam War Senators, SHOULD be investigated. Either of these events IF TRUE, MUST disqualify him from holding the Office of President.

If they didn't know about and their staff did, they should resign as they asked Rummy to resign for something he didn't know about. Their staff is a lot smaller that all of the service men and women in Iraq and who have served there.

Remember the Vietnam Vets march against Kerry on September 12.

These Vets have the right to have their names cleared after Kerry smeared them.

They have the right to have facts about the war come out now that we know the media was and always has been biased against the military (Cronkite).

They have the right to speak up now and correct the wrong that was done to them.

McCain, who sat there in Hanoi Hilton and had to endure Kerry's anti-military remarks, of all people should understand that.

And maybe someone should investigate why John McCain came out of the Hanoi Hilton 17 pounds heavier than he went in when our other POWs came home looking like skeletons. McCain is a close friend of John Kerry admitedly and in a lot of ways exactly like him. Remember that he left his severly injured wife who worked night and day for the MIA/POW returns to marry a Busch millionairess and he embraced his former Vietnamese guard when diplomatic relations were reestablished. John McCain cannot be trusted.

What he is really worried aout is that the story about his work with Kerry on the Viet Nam POW issue might get investigated. Seems McCain and Kerry threw out a report that there were still missing POW's in Nam when the US signed the trade deal with the Vietnamese. Kerry threatened one guy 'You will be sorry you were ever born if this gets out' or something to that effect.
