Pentagon possesses three disks of photos, one of which includes some brief video clips. Many of the photos are redundant, and some have little to do with Iraqi detainees but show sex between U.S. soldiers... Pentagon officials prevailed at least temporarily in their insistence that the administration not immediately release the images, which include the forced masturbation of a detainee...

It is a disgrace what these folks have done to undermine our war effort.

I am sure that there are at least a couple of prisons or jails somewhere in the Unites States where horrible things happen everyday with the knowledge or involvement of guards or even a warden.

Do we shut down the entire criminal justice system, fire all the prosecutors, public defenders, criminal court judges, correctional officers, and let all prisoners go and have no further criminal law enforcement?

Of course not! But the liberals and their allies will use these Iraq prison abuses to undermine the entire war effort and get a "regime change" here in the US. They do not care about any abuses. They care about getting a Democrat into the Oval Office and reversing their electoral reverses.

If they get their way (the anti-Bush forces), a whole lot worse than this abuse will happen to many Iraqis. Most of the Iraqis that Saddam's people put through shredders feet first would probably have preferred to be in the hands of these weirdo US GIs at Abu Gharib (sp?). Almost all of the abused prisoners have lived to tell about it.

Forced masturbation can occur when a straight prisoner is shown a beautiful female guard who pretends to be physically interested in him, then the prisoner is hooded, then a gay man performs oral sex on the prisoner while the prisoner wears the hood (thinking that it's the woman doing it instead).

I've been both active duty and a Reservist. It is my experience that the active duty personnel respect the patriotism and enthusiasm of Reservists and Guardsmen, but the Reservists and Guardsmen take some time to get up to speed. It is similar to how rookies are treated by veterans on professional sports teams, or new employees by the experienced.

There are some things that can only be learned by doing them, and the Reservists and Guardsmen usually are the ones who need to do the learning. Active dity personnel realize that Reservists and Guardsmen are part of the same team and treat them as such. But until they Reservists and Guardsmen prove they are up to speed they are viewed as lesser players.

I realize that there are Reserve and National Guard units that are made up almost exclusively of prior active duty personnel that have unparalleled skills and experience. However, such units are the exception rather than the rule. And even in those cases the Reserve and/or Guard units are often only superior at specific tasks which they focus on during their limited training. I seriously doubt your husband's unit was superior to active duty units in common soldier tasks such as convoy movements, setting up field locations, performing perimeter security, practicing field sanitation, etc.

Never did I question the patriotism or commitment of the Reserve or Guard personnel, or the value of their service. I'm well aware of the sacrifices that Reservists and Guardsmen are making. However, as a former active duty officer and Reservist, I'm also aware that everyone is a volunteer.

With respect to your last paragraph, why would we pay for part-timers if they were never to be used because we could fill the ranks with draftees? Your husband would not have to worry about being sent to combat, and he wouldn't have to go to monthly drills or annual training, but he would have to forget about the extra income and limited benefits.

As for Ms. England's pregnancy, just think of what that poor child is going to be faced with for the rest of his/her life - conceived in Abu Ghraib prison. That's not a handle that I would want to carry around for the rest of my life.

If I remember correctly, the US surgeon General Joycelyn Elders several years ago (appointed by Clinton) said that Masturbation was a good thing and all US youth should do it.. I didn't hear congress or Hillary complaining then.
