Hackworth was suppose to name the 17 Senators who were supposedly notified (by constitutents serving in Iraq) of the prisoner abuse long before the pictures surfaced today.

Instead we get this article. Guess we know what political party these 17 must have belonged to or Hack would have published them.

Actually, I read on another thread that Hillary, Byrd, Bill Nelson & Mark Dayton are among those named by uncle William Lawson on MSNBC today.

This is what I emailed the Hack and posted on his online guestbook:

As a veteran of Iraq and disabled with a brother still over there and many friends, I just want to tell you Hackworth to go to hell. How far would you go to get this President you so vehemently hate? How far would you go in opposing a war you hate? How far would you go in getting a few senior officers?

You are a disgrace, your actions in releasing the pictures of the abuse is reprehensible. You impugned the military court martial, the president and soldiers in Iraq and the war. Does it make you feel good that your personal hatred of all things Bush may lead to the deaths of hundreds of good hard working soldiers? Does it make you feel good that America is now viewed even worse now? You know what I am saying, because you know that arrests were being made investigations were already under way and the pictures ere already well known to the military and were being used as evidence. The one and only reason you had for releasing them was for political reasons. I know many, many soldiers who now consider you there worst type of enemy, the kind who says they are out for them, butr it turns out you are just out fo yourself. Thank you, and go to hell.

I've often wondered what turns people like HACKworth and pat buchanan into such bitter old men. The more they speak the easier it is to understand...they are without personal integrity or honor.

......the brass have spent months covering up obscene behavior while placing the sole blame on Joe and Jill Grunt. .............Retired Master Sgt. William Lawson, who brought the atrocity story to SFTT.org, says the 800th Military Police Brigade is a prime example....

Bravo Sierra.

Retired Master Sgt. William Lawson did nothing except try to blackmail the U.S. Army by threatening to release copies of the photos unless the U.S. Army dropped charges against his nephew. The U.S. Army, to it's credit, refused to subvert the rule of law in the face of blackmail.

The abuse was first reported on 13 January 2004 by Spc. Joseph Darby.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Press Release Number: 04-01-43 announced on January 16, 2004 that an investigation was going to be conducted in a case dealing with detainee abuse. This was the first time that the press had heard anything about this and it was 3 days after the abuse had been reported.

An Army Regulation Article 15-6 investigation was commenced on 19 January 2004 and was an extremely extensive investigation with interviews of over 50 witnesses both American and Iraqi.

The Army Regulation Article 15-6 investigation concluded:

CONCLUSION:1. (U) Several US Army Soldiers have committed egregious acts and grave breaches of international law at Abu Ghraib/BCCF and Camp Bucca, Iraq. Furthermore, key senior leaders in both the 800th MP Brigade and the 205th MI Brigade failed to comply with established regulations, policies, and command directives in preventing detainee abuses at Abu Ghraib (BCCF) and at Camp Bucca during the period August 2003 to February 2004.

Hackworth is not only an accomplice to blackmail but also a liar.

"I saw a very connected intelligence captain torturing a POW with a field-telephone wire attached to his testicles "

And since Hackworth was so much better trained than our current reserves, he immedialtely reported it to his superiors, just as they had so well trained him to do.

Is there a statute of limitations on war crimes?

On both occasions, I knew I had the moral right

Who is this clown kidding? Name one war where the actual fighting is moral? The only thing you can say that is moral about war is the cause for war. Hackworth-less is a self promoting POS.

Would have been interesting to watch Hack interrogate chi coms and N Koreans during the Korean war and VC during his stint out at FSB Danger..

He wasn't known back in those days for his big belief in "human rights" for VC anyway...

so how come he is suddenly overcome by the desire to uphold the human rights of the Fedayeen and Saddam's SS
or those of the kind that gang raped our female soldiers who were mortally wounded at the time of their torture...by these same thugs...

Why ANYONE takes people like Hackworth seriously, I'll never understand. He is to the military what Larry Klayman is to the law, and Richard C. Hoagland is to science. Too many of these bit players are out there making a living by hawking their supposed inside knowledge to the gullible.

In 1951 in Korea, I was told by my commanding officer to kill four POWs and refused his direct order. I well remembered the Nazi generals’ sorry rationale for their despicable conduct: “We were just following orders.” I would get booted out of the Army before I went that route.

In 1965 in Vietnam, I saw a very connected intelligence captain torturing a POW with a field-telephone wire attached to his testicles and decided my personal belief system outweighed his father’s four stars. When I told him I’d shoot him if he didn’t cease and desist, the atrocity came to a screeching halt.

Isn't Hackworth choking the life out of his point here or is it just his usual point not quite fitting with this situation? His usual rant is againt those in command and here he illustrates the same point along with his usual "moral" superiority. He can't possibly argue that those involved in the current situation just didn't know that abusing prisoners and posing with them wasn't wrong.

Actually this could be great news. Hackworth is basically making the point of what everyone was saying that under Clintons' watch the military was gutted and our soldiers not trained properly to be ready for any mission.

"LEGACY PROJECT" LAUNCHES SPIN CAMPAIGN TO OBSCURE CLINTON RECORD ON MILITARY READINESS

..."Legacy Project" talking points cannot erase the inconvenient fact that during the Clinton years, military readiness and morale were seriously degraded. Contemporaneous news stories, published with headlines such as these, reported the steady decline:

· "BAND-AID NAVY -- How Shortages are Burning Out Sailors and Wearing Out the Fleet," Navy Times, May 22, 2000
· "Two Army Divisions Unfit for war-- Both Flunk Ratings of Preparedness," Washington Post, Nov. 10, 1999
· "They Weren’t Ready -- General Says Task Force Hawk Aviators Unprepared for Challenges in Kosovo," Army Times, July 5, 1999
· "Army Says Strained Resources Leave Troops Unprepared for War" -- New York Times, Nov. 10, 1999
· "ROCK BOTTOM -- Training Centers Report They Can’t Meet Mission," Army Times, Sept. 11, 2000
· "Workload Swamps Ship Maintenance Depots," Navy Times, May 22, 2000
· "Readiness Hits Lowest Level in 15 Years" -- Air Force Times, May 15, 2000

Defense analyst O’Hanlon nevertheless claimed that Clinton’s Administration had "maintained a strong and focused military able to carry out a post-Cold War mission." Pointing to the performance of American forces in the Balkans and in Afghanistan, O’Hanlon came to the faint-praise conclusion that "Bill Clinton did not squander the legacy" of his predecessors, President Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

To appreciate the fatuity of that claim, just imagine Reagan or either President Bush starting their respective terms as Commander-in-Chief by calling for the acceptance of open homosexuality in the military. By contrast, Reagan delivered on his promise to restore the strength and morale of America’s volunteer force, following four years of "hollowing out" under President Jimmy Carter.

In addition to what was taken away, social burdens were loaded on. High-level Clinton appointees--including an Assistant Secretary of the Army (Sara Lister) who derided the Marines as "extremists" -- turned the Pentagon into a feminist power base. Liberal civilian appointees pursued an "ungendered military," and lavished scarce resources on social engineering that undermined military culture and morale.

In addition to continuous attempts to accommodate homosexuals in the military, despite congressional action to the contrary, Clinton policies became increasingly problematic. His legacy includes co-ed basic training, gender quotas and gender-normed standards, a push to relax personal discipline rules, and a pervasive lack of candor about the consequences of such policies. The result was a widening credibility gap, detected in numerous surveys, which demoralized the troops and caused hundreds of junior officers to leave the service early.

Who's in trouble now, a woman and her subordinates who are bordering on homosexual acts. Clinton's Legacy just keeps on giving.

Did Col. Hackworth swear out a complaint against this alleged war criminal or is he another John Kerry ?

Class ?

Class ?

Class ?

He is not credible unless he did. Otherwise he witnessed a war crime and covered it up. If he participated in the release of classified evidence he is a traitor who put American lives at risk.

Uh, can anyone answer this? How many "4-stars" were there before 1965, and of those, how many had sons who were captains in MI?
