As far as I know, the Taguba was still classified at the time it went Public.

Wow! Thanks Sacajaweau, I didn't know that. The link I followed to read the report included one scathing paragraph of editorial introduction that completely trashed Sec. Rumsfeld.

Exactly.
That's why I've said I want to know what the letter said.
The only way it matters is if there is a graphic description or example of what kind of activities the nephew engaged in supposedly at the behest of his higher ups (as his story goes). If they were informed of unique information and disregarded---or more likely, if all dems, gathered together to plan to use this tidbit against the administration by eventually painting it as sanctioned behavior by the chain of command---then this doesn't mean anything.
It does not explain why Hackworth felt it necessary to facilitate getting photos to CBS....

I can give you a copy of a letter I sent to the White House saying Lincoln should stay away from Ford's Theater Give?
Sell it on e-bay!
To: Howlin
Nelson? You know, he had really turned into a schmuck lately. I am so pleased to hear he is on the list.

Meanwhile, even though it is Byrd, Dayton and Rockefeller, I still don't think this is believable. THAT is how little I trust Hackworth. It doesn't matter who they are really. They shouldn't have gotten involved in the criminal investigation, they DIDN'T get involved, and the most they ought to have done is report the slimy uncle to the authorities.
I might actually get to respect a Dem or two before the day is over!

From WND:
Before contacting Hackworth, Lawson said he also went to the Red Cross, members of Congress in both parties and Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly.

As I said above, the names I have heard so far that actually GOT the letter were some of the ones who put on such a disgusting performance at the hearing last week.

I meant it only means anything if they were given unique information...unique as what was public back in January.
If they did NOT receive anything more then a general complaint, then it doesn't mean anything.
If the letter was a simple--my nephew's being investigated and it's NOT FAIR...big deal.
I would love to see these dems humiliated, but I can't see how a letter like that would matter or draw their attention.
To: Sacajaweau
You are correct--Taguba was still classified, not only that but the Photographs were all classified also. If you look at the copies of Taguba that went up on the websites, they still had all the classification markings in them.
An officially released version would have had the Classification markings removed, and all names etc. blacked out.

"Well hopefully the idiot running the prison could face early retirement or some other punishment because of this"Agreed and very likely, though a court martial and time in Leavenworth would be better and more just.
"And I truly hope you're not basing the entire success of the WOST in Iraq solely on whether or not these pictures are released to the public. If so, it was on pretty weak ground to begin with"
I never base my assessment of the odds of success in Iraq - or any event - on the actions of a few of the worst. I'm afraid that continued publication of the pictures will bias everyone else and it'll become Viet Nam redux like Kerry hopes. We don't even know if all of them are authentic. The one of GI's allegedly raping an Iraqi woman turned out to be a hoax and the media isn't reporting it....how many others are there?
The facts have been lost in the hype from day one, and this case is no different, but has potentially much more devestating repercussions.

Not so smart to let it be know she knew about a secret document, not so smart to be so condescending to rumsfield if she was the recipient of one of the letters.

As I said above, the names I have heard so far that actually GOT the letter were some of the ones who put on such a disgusting performance at the hearing last week. I didn't see that until I had posted! Better than seeing that a few Dems have some integrity, is seeing them exposed as nasty, partisan hypocrits.
I'm thinking that I can't lose here. This will be a GREAT day! LOL!

I orginally saw it on Fox News after the whole thing broke early last week. There is a link in the thread I posted then -- there is also a full version posted in the thread.
