Let us hope that among the 17 who received letters are some of the Dems who were involved in the interrogation of Rummy and ALL of whom said had it not been for the release of photos, NOBODY would have ever known about the prisoner abuse!

Is it too much to hope that HITLERY was among them? If so, forget about her being on the Democrat ticket!

FOX will be all over this!

(Here's an old post that gives a little insight into what kind of creature Hackworth is):

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- David Hackworth, the retired army colonel turned journalist who questioned medals worn by the Navy's top admiral -- who later killed himself -- acknowledges he wrongly claimed credit for two of his own military honors.
The awards, which had been listed on Hackworth's personal Internet page, have now been removed.

Hackworth, once a columnist for Newsweek magazine, has described himself as America's most decorated living veteran. He was scheduled to interview Adm. Jeremy Boorda, chief of naval operations, on the day Boorda committed suicide one year ago.

Boorda, 56, committed suicide less than two hours after he learned that reporters would be questioning him about two pins on ribbon decorations that he had worn.

He left notes lamenting the coming disclosure that he had improperly worn the two bronze "V" pins, which normally are awarded for valor in combat.

Ranger? Not

From his home in Montana, Hackworth told CNN by telephone Thursday that he recently found out that he was not entitled to a Ranger tab, an insignia worn on the shoulder of a uniform.

Normally, it indicates that the wearer has completed one of the Army's toughest training courses, a rigorous entry to one of the service's most elite groups. Hackworth said he thought he earned the Ranger insignia during his service in the Korean War.

He also told CNN he found that the Army had given him two Distinguished Flying Cross medals, when he had only earned one.

In both cases, Hackworth says the mistakes were made by the Army, not him. Before he died, Boorda said he thought he had earned the medals in question during service in the Vietnam War.

After you release a "kennedy", it is considered polite to say "excuse me".

"McCain was surprisingly on the 17 LEAST liberal senators on the link I showed above. I took him out precisely because he's Kerry's lapdog, Hackworth's not gonna incriminate him. In any case, I predict that it'll be all Republicans (with maybe one token Democrat--Lieberman) and they'll all be extremely conservatives (we won't see Collins, Snowe, McCain, etc. on that list)"

Ah, but if McCain's name isn't on the list, we'll know Hack is lying. Also, if that site had him as one of the 17 least liberal senators, we can guess which to which side their political axes tilt.

"These are the 17 Senators who supposedly were informed of the Iraqi prisoner abuses. Those Senators did nothing, so Hackworth broke the story to the Press."

Whichever senators have shown the most "outrage"......those are the 17.

Mindbender has some great personal insights to Hack's great war record in Nam.

Are you implying he might have got some of his medals the way Kerry did?

It's one state's congressional delegation, in part in in full. The family of one soldier wouldn't contact members of another state.
The list of state's with delegations = > 17 is:
CA 55, FL 27, IL 21, MI 17, NY 31, PA 21, TX 34
Look out for those states

Follow along, here. First these were "members of Congress." Now they are all senators.

First we heard there was "no response." Now we hear they sent form letters. What did the form letter say? Let's see one.

When a person has a track record as dubious as Hackworth, and when Lawson has a vested interest in stirring up trouble to make his nephew look less guilty, I think being a little skeptical is the order of the day.

If a Republican deliberately ignored this, they should be censured. I do not believe all is as portrayed by Hackworth.

If he wanted the letter to be productive, he would have sent one to Hillary, Teddy of the Armed Services Committee, Kerry and McCain and his locals at least. After all, he didn't know what type of response he would get. If they ALL responded with form letters then they were pre-warned about the letter and I'd call that a conspriracy.

Thanks to the anthrax mess all mail to those in the US government are sent to a sorting, testing facility before they are forwarded.

Mail without return addresses are most likely NOT forwarded at all.

Most politicians have their email shut OFF. Consituents are encouraged to call their local offices in the states where they reside.

Hack will make much ado about nothing, as will his ilk in the media.

Hack from me......DROP DEAD

Hackworth would have little incentive to name names who weren't told, since they could plausibly deny it and ask for proof. His credibility would be shot.

And why exactly would he be afraid of losing his credibility? That would be about the same as me worrying about possibly losing my virginity.

Ivan "Chip" Frederick got caught, his Uncle Bill tried to blackmail the military by threatening to expose the whole deal to the public.

That may well be the case. The "17" may have rightfully told Uncle Bill Lawson that it was a matter under investigation and should remain private until things had been properly sorted out. I still want to know their names, now that the can of worms is open, to see if any of them are among the hypocritical bastards who are claiming ignorance and throwing accusations around. I'll bet that two of the names are Clinton and Kennedy.

"Do you mean the 17 Senators who received letters of complaint/notification about the Iraqi prisoner abuse?"

If it's 17 senators who haven't been grandstanding, then it's because they checked with DoD who told them that it's
being investigated and prosecuted.

If it's 17 who have been flapping their yap, then they have all been lying about finding out from the media as opposed to other sources.

"What's worse is I see other news organizations are releasing some of these photos as well. We've got to stamp out this free access to information. The media shouldn't be informing just regular citizens about this. Wait a minute....isn't there an Amendment against that?"

Uh...they're violating the Geneva Conventions in order to graphically illustrate violations of the Geneva Conventions. They're further humiliating those Iraqi prisoners in order to show us how humiliated they were. Do two wrongs make a right?

You're right. However, Hackworth's goal isn't to cleanse out the military, make United States a better country, or any of that tripe. His goal is to bring down Bush and Republicans.
