Chris Wallace was a TERRIBLE choice for Fox News. I can't watch the Sunday show anymore.

Hmmm....I thought it was way underdone for being advertised as a tribute but he did bring out some accomplishments of the troops that I didn't know about.
I'm not a Chris Wallace fan either. After seeing the less than stellar effort that went into a tribute that had been advertised for a week, I can only conclude it was done as a slap at Koppel and not much more.

I don't agree at all. Ok he talked about what had happened this week then he told the other side of the story and said more will come in the future.

Wow. It is hard to believe that it was that bad in dishonoring America.

I just saw this program and I had the exact opposite reaction as you. I felt he presented a tremendously favorable and positive perspective on what our soldiers were doing when they died and I felt that he offered such positive and edifying context to counter the focus of the week.

I couldn't take and turned it off during the first segment and back on for the "Tribute". Without Tony Snow, the Fox News Sunday is just another media hit piece on conservatives.

The tribute was nice...
But I posted a response to Wallace's hack remark in the Sunday Talk Thread:

Chris Wallace (FoxNews Sunday): 'We were astonished at all we saw (improvements) in Iraq.'
That is a huge admission, Chris. All the media has been so focused on gotchas and news-soundbites that they have overlooked and ignored the progress taking place.
Most on FR aren't astonished, Chris. We've read the emails and 'good' reports from blogs. We are proud of what our Military have done and are doing. Astonished, no. Proud, you bet!
Chris, maybe the media should be more at gathering 'real' news about 'real' events and less agenda oriented. I'd bet if they were, they wouldn't be so 'astonished' at the good news our good guys are doing. |

I know exactly how you feel. I've watched FOX News every single day since April of 1998 and I'm getting perilously close to turning them off. Why pay the extra money for cable when all they do is pile on. I can get that crap for free by watching the alphabet networks.
This has blown out of proportion, the reporting on it has been horrible and in my mind almost criminal.
WTH does he mean he's astonished? WHY is he astonished? Those smug, complacent talking heads have no idea what is going on in the world and I'm quite frankly sick of all of them.

Glad I missed it. I had to work both days this weekend to catch up on all the stuff that didn't get done during the week.

I agree with you!
10 minutes of good PR
The rest of the show was full of anti-military and anti-Bush rhetoric.

Pruth: Your "tears" amaze me. I watched the show this morning, and I had no such reaction.
I see the tyranny of the few has stomped all over the greater good again. Leave it to Chris Wallace.
annie: How can you "see that the tyranny of the few has stomped all ofer the greater good again"? Don't you think you should see the show and form your own reaction? Why would you take someone else's word? What was it Reagan said, "trust but verify"?
To: patriciaruth
I saw it, I did not see what I expected to see, but I did not react as you did.
I did express some anger over Wallace's questions to the quests like McStain. he was parroting the worst of perspectives and that did tick me off. it is time to get past that crap!!!
Enough already with the self flagellation! Enough of the discussion of Rummy and the resignation that is not coming!
As to the way too short story about what we accomplished in Iraq and the cost of accomplishing them, I was only disappointed that he did not use a entire hour and list all the things we have done with supporting video and interviews of all of it.
No, I am not angry, but simply disappointed.

Try to remember.. it's only the corrupt media.. it's not real.
Americans feel differently. The media is garbage.
To: patriciaruth
I don't understand. I thought Chris Wallace did an excellent job in pointing out the positives of what the troops were doing.
So what are you gonna do? Watch CNN or CBS?
To: patriciaruth
I must say that I really don't like the way Mr. Wallace has changed Fox News Sunday. The tribute was very good, but way too short and long overdue. But then, I didn't see any other network even come close to this.
I have missed far more shows since Mr. Wallace joined the gang.
All I can say is. Like father, like son.
