Chris Wallace Leaves me in Tears

Chris Wallace advertised his Sunday news show as a time to put the names of our fallen soldiers in context.
Ted Koppel had simply read the names of the soldiers who have sacrificed all, the last full measure of devotion, for us to live in peace and for the Iraqis to have a unique and blessed chance to find peace and security and democracy. So, Chris Wallace decided to have a show to put those sacrifices in context, and talk about all the good things that the American soldiers had done in Iraq.
So, I tuned in, and I am still sobbing and shaking with anger remembering how he started the show with over fifteen minutes of a rehash of the last 10 days feeding frenzy over the terrible abuses a few soldiers had perpetrated on some Iraqi prisoners.
CONTEXT?!?!
THIS is the context you want me to remember our war dead!!
You garbage, you thoughtless garbage!
I was too upset to watch the "tribute" which came after the filthy trash.
I'll never watch that cruel, demented show ever again.

I know exactly how you feel. I've watched FOX News every single day since April of 1998 and I'm getting perilously close to turning them off. Why pay the extra money for cable when all they do is pile on. I can get that crap for free by watching the alphabet networks.
This has blown out of proportion, the reporting on it has been horrible and in my mind almost criminal.
WTH does he mean he's astonished? WHY is he astonished? Those smug, complacent talking heads have no idea what is going on in the world and I'm quite frankly sick of all of them.

I hope you watched the whole program and didn't jump to unnecessay conclusions. Chris Wallace had a ten minute special edition in answer of Ted Koppel's Nightline of all the good things that were accomblished by our troops in Iraq since the war. It was truly refreshing. You wan't see this by the other networks. To attack him, just because he used to be on ABC. Shame on you all who attacked him

Glad I missed it. I had to work both days this weekend to catch up on all the stuff that didn't get done during the week.

Howie Carr opens up his Friday's show first segment with Chris Wallace.
He comes off half the time as nasty and almost all the time as smarmy.
He misled Carr and his audience a week ago, and now he pulls this cr@p?
I think FNC should go from "fair and balanced", to just "fair" if CW is an example of "balancing" the news.

We had a build-up that said it was a reply to ted (nothing-goin-on-here) kopple. It was going to show the good our troops have done and the progress the US and coalition has made in re-building Iraq. How did it not do that? (I did not get to watch it.)

My foster father died while his carrier was helping keep Lybia subdued back in the 1960's.
I admit I'm touchy about our war dead, but I still think this "context" was a slap in the face of our war dead and their families.

How did it not do that? (I did not get to watch it.) From this viewer's perspective it succeeded in highlighting that our soldiers are doing many great things in Iraq for the Iraqi people and are dieing while doing it.

I agree with you!
10 minutes of good PR
The rest of the show was full of anti-military and anti-Bush rhetoric.

Pruth: Your "tears" amaze me. I watched the show this morning, and I had no such reaction.
I see the tyranny of the few has stomped all over the greater good again. Leave it to Chris Wallace.
annie: How can you "see that the tyranny of the few has stomped all ofer the greater good again"? Don't you think you should see the show and form your own reaction? Why would you take someone else's word? What was it Reagan said, "trust but verify"?
To: Clara Lou
You are right to say I should have seen it first. I guess I'm just jaded re: Wallace. I can't imagine why....
To: patriciaruth
I saw it, I did not see what I expected to see, but I did not react as you did.
I did express some anger over Wallace's questions to the quests like McStain. he was parroting the worst of perspectives and that did tick me off. it is time to get past that crap!!!
Enough already with the self flagellation! Enough of the discussion of Rummy and the resignation that is not coming!
As to the way too short story about what we accomplished in Iraq and the cost of accomplishing them, I was only disappointed that he did not use a entire hour and list all the things we have done with supporting video and interviews of all of it.
No, I am not angry, but simply disappointed.

Apparently you saw the show that I saw. I thought it might have been understated, but felt good about the things I saw.
To: patriciaruth
Try to remember.. it's only the corrupt media.. it's not real.
Americans feel differently. The media is garbage.

"FOX hired the head of NBC as the new news editor. Look for some major changes in FOX."
Huh??
What is going on? Is FOX selling out and rolling over, (bending over), for the libs?

Because we were promised a tribute to what our troops died for. It was 10 minutes (a superb selection and well done) sandwiched between 20 minutes of contant Bush bashing.
