How Iraq Is Vietnam
Rush Limbaugh Show ^

I want to read an e-mail to you because some of you might be outraged, some of which you might be upset about this, and some of you might not be, but I want to share with you an e-mail from a woman who I think has this in perspective.
She writes, "Mr. Limbaugh, we have it all wrong. Iraq is Vietnam. And the Democrats have been warning us about it all along.
It is Vietnam because, one, like in Vietnam, we are winning the war, even though the Democrats tell us we're not.
Number two, like in Vietnam, the Iraqis want freedom, even though the Democrats tell us they don't.
Number three, like in Vietnam, the Democrats are using the media to fight the war for the enemy.
Number four, like in Vietnam, the war can be won even though Democrats tell us it can't.
Number five, like in Vietnam, the Democrats use the media and the election to cripple the military command.
Number six, like in Vietnam, the Democrats are trying to turn the country against our military.
"We've not been listening, Mr. Limbaugh. The Democrats have not been comparing Iraq to Vietnam; they've been telling us all just how they're going to fight against this war and how they're going to run this election.
Maybe we should agree with the Democrats for once and point out to the world that they have done this before, and that they are doing it again.
We need to do something about this.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Let's not be fooled by them again."
So her theory is, "Hey, let's just agree with them. Okay, we know exactly what you guys are doing, and here's what it is," instead of arguing with them about Vietnam.
They're doing exactly now what they did in Vietnam.

My favorite argument on the left is to bring back the draft because only those who are poor without resources and no prospect for employment join the military.
Well, the argument AGAINST the draft in the Vietnam era was that only the poor without resources and no prospect for employment are drafted.

Wow...first time I saw this and heard how the early Rush sounded. He was definitely more politically incorrect in his early days.

Huh? Not sure I'm understanding what you mean. What has this response have anything to do with "early" Rush?

Thanks for the heads up. I had been videotaping the re-airing of Fox News Sunday - now I'm taping MSNBC. I must have missed quite a bit of it. Do they re-air these programs? I never watch, so I don't know.

"Wow...first time I saw this and heard how the early Rush sounded" I didn't have to watch for more than two minutes to see that this is a re-run of the hit piece they did a long time ago against the _one_ they view as being the most EFFECTIVE at exposing just who and what they ARE.
Nothing has changed. In spite of all their efforts to take him down so far, he's STILL the most effective, and his audience is bigger than ever.

Why is Iraq like Vietnam? Because Washington knows the college students and their parents won't support the war if they havc to fight it.

I guess every "war" has some similarities to another, and I get the point. But there's also crucial differences:
1) Vietnam wasn't really a war, since Congress - the only body under the US Constitution that has the power to declare war - never officially authorized action. That's not the case with Iraq.
2) More importantly, with Vietnam, the US public always felt that the was no compelling reason for the US to be there, that it was interfering (more or less) in the internal affairs of some far-away, non-threatening country.
After 911 and direct threats from Saddam / various terrorist scum, the US saw Iraq as a RELEVANT threat to the country.
No matter how hard the leftist media tries to portray Iraq as Vietnam-all-over-again, the public won't bite - they're behind the Iraq operation.
This is not 1968 again (thank God!!!)

I will agree with the lady in all aspects except one. During the Viet Nam War it was not the Democrats that were telling us these things it was the Socialist/Communist (such as John Kerry) running the disinformation campaign.
The Communist infiltration and take over of the Democratic Party was in full swing but they were not yet fully in control. The leaders of the Democratic Party were in favor of the War.
Today the Democratic Party has been almost totally absorbed the Democratic Party and has control of the party platform.
So to be more accurate the lady should have said that the Socialist/Democrat Party is telling us
