All right.
That does it.
I am going to say it.
EVERYONE who ever went to boot camp was humiliated more than these people were in Baghdad.
And I mean EVERYONE!

They served us tea and crumpets at Ft. Benning, as the chamber music played...
Seriously though, I did see grown men crying for thier mothers. Those were the days... Log drills under the midday July sun at scenic Harmony Church...The Body Twist, one of MY personal favorites...Heat stroke fatality in another Infantry Training Brigade, won't repeat what the DS is bout that, wasn't very civil of him...
Started with 240 recruits in the company, graduated about 130. I like to think it made a man out of me.

It will take an organized effort to assemble true patriotic military veterans and like minded people to counter the left's continued attempts to destroy this great nation. I am afraid if it is not done soon the damage will be so great we will not be able to recover.
Look what the self-serving democraps have done with the "prisoner abuse" incident. As bad as it is it was amplified to the world stage for one purpose, and that was to attack President Bush and his administration.
The abuse of prisoners of war is a crime and it should never have happened, especially by the hands of American soldiers. The explotation of this terrible crime by the left wing democraps is more serious than a crime, it is treason.

Just out of curiousity, did the DIs ever sodomize recruits with chemlights and broomsticks? Some were whipped with rifle cleaning rods, beaten with fists and rifle butts across the cheeks, does that count?

We used to call it Combat Football and usually when the game was over someone had a broken arm, or a minimum puffed eyes from someone sucker punching him, especially if that person was not well liked.

I have fond memories of guys being put in wall lockers which were buried in the ground and then the wall lockers were filled up with water and many other things that I probably shouldn't mention...so I won't.

This is another one of those ridiculous posts that avoids facing the obvious; we, as a nation, screwed up. Those prisoners were our responsiblity and we devolved into some weird, perverted sadism that shames all of the good things we have done so far to win freedom for the Iraqis.
I went through bootcamp in the mid-60s and as goofy as that was, we all knew it would be done in 13 weeks. We also knew that there was a reason for the stress and the craziness and that was to prepare us for war.
Even when the enemy commits some act of barbarity, it does not mean that we should become garbage too.
That is what those troops at that prison were: garbage. That goes double for the "leaders" that knew/encouraged what happened there. They were criminals and they have dragged down all of those good people that have risked and given everything to defend our nation and to win over the Iraqis. How many more good men and women will lose their lives now, because some rear-area perverts decided to use helpless prisoners for their personal enjoyment?

Major General Antonio Taguba is the deputy commanding general for support, Third Army. He's an armor officer. He should be retired as Captain Taguba.

The pre-basic physical was, without a doubt, a very traumatic time. I was forced to stand in a line of about 50 naked guys, while the doctor poked, prodded, and made us caugh. LOL, you got that right.

Bravo--this whole thing should have never been reported. This is being overblown. The media is disgraceful!

I suspect the cast of "Full Metal Jacket" probably were subjected to more sleep deprivation
and harsher language than the Iraq Prisoners!
Like I've said before, the men of America's fraternities can hold their
heads high, as they get more punishment during initiation than the Iraq prisoners
get in jail.
(of course, subjecting detainees to a full-on fraternity initiation might
constitute cruel and unusual punishment)

Well at PI....
1. I have been forced to request that My DI's "Whip My Ass" (which they gladly did) for falling asleep in a Post Storm and Garrison Flag Class.
2. Had to dig a full size grave to bury a DI's pet sand flea.
3. Been choked, kicked, punched, made to get on all fours and moo and eat grass.
4. I've had to bend and thrust till the ambulance comes. (it never does) I did hear one once... the DI said "It ain't for you asshole!"
5. On the way to Elliots Beach I had to run messages from the front of a force march to the rear and then back to the front asking the last DI in formation where he wanted to meet the Gunny for a beer.(They had a nice long conversation)
6. At Elliots Beach I had to climb a tree and say "I'm a wise old owl and I know everything Hoot...Hoot."(over and over all night long)
7. I have been spit on, hit in the face with a rifle and called every bad name you could think of.
8. I managed to Shoot expert while getting my ass peppered with bandelero pins on the rifle range.
But in the end, I became a Marine. There was a reward at the end. Something I will be until I die.
So sorry guy, I disagree with you. PI wasn't as bad as being murdered, thrown from the back of a truck. Putting my head down by somebody's penis and pretend to suck him off while some little bull dyke gives me a thumbs up.
This prison crap was wrong. You can't defend it. It is wrong to try. The best you can do is point to the fact that the Arabs have never apologized for anything but we are going to be better than that.
Oh, and don't even think I was a shitbird in the Corps. I was a squad leader in PI and earned my PFC from Boot camp. (used to be a big thing) Most of my discipline came from my squad screwin' up.

Good point...
I will always remember the shell-back initiation in the Navy. (for those of you who don't know, when you cross the equator on a ship, they have a little party to initiate you into the royal order of the deep.)

". . .piling them naked and looking at their c-cks. Participating in these perversions would have been more demoralizing to us than to them."
Thank you. I knew there was something about this I couldn't quite put my finger on. You nailed it. What a FU job that would be. NO THANKS. Shoot the bastard and get on with business.

Some were whipped with rifle cleaning rods, beaten with fists and rifle butts across the cheeks, does that count? Not quite the same as being sodomized...btw....it is illegal for a DI to physically abuse a recruit and is seldom, if ever, done anymore.
