All right.
That does it.
I am going to say it.
EVERYONE who ever went to boot camp was humiliated more than these people were in Baghdad.
And I mean EVERYONE!
Then, about three weeks later, another fu@k up concealed a round from the range when we returned to the armory. Before he got to the barrel to clear his weapon, he lock and loaded the round, pointed the M-16 at his foot and fired. The round went through his foot, hit the cement, and walked it's way back up his leg and lodged in his stomach. If it hadn't been for some quick work by a medic nearby, he would have died (yes, a Section 8).
And yes, I'll deny that I ever wrote this, was involved or saw anything.

You forgot to mention those who had their hands cut off for having U.S. currency, which was illegal for Iraqis. That didn’t stop Saddam from moving truckloads of Euro and U.S. Dollars when he went into hiding.
And I was serious when I said the prisoners BEGGED to be taken to the Air Port facility when the U.S. Soldiers turned Abu Ghraib over to the Iraqis. The prisoners knew that very soon it would suck to be in their world.
No doubt!
Thanks very much for serving, BTW.
A-G is a stain, pure and simple and I doubt that boots had it as tough..
I’m not marginalizing the crimes committed by INDIVIDUALS at Abu Ghraib. However was they did was not systematic policy. One of the biggest problems was that the prison was under the command of a General who did not bother to get clearance to enter the facility!
In-spite of what the handful of morons following a couple of sadists did, the ogreish behavior of Al Quida and the Baathists (under orders of Sadaam Hussein) was, and still is, far worse. Unfortunately this fact is not conducive to the party line so it does not get MSM coverage.
I am sort of curious whether the prisoners at Abu Ghraib use the same tactics as the prisoners at Gitmo. Specifically using vomit and feces as weapons. I won't bother looking at your pictures. I've seen plenty of the same as provided by our MSM. I'm not saying the guards might not have smeared feces on some prisoners but I am open to believe the terrorists would be willing to smear it on themselves.
So here's my question for you. Given a choice who would you prefer to be held by; the misbehaving yanks or Al Quida?
Who cares? They're not 'my' pictures, they were taken by US army personel.

Rather childish and proves nothing but that you buy the modern theory of reletive evil.
Whoa there one moment. I’m probably harsher than most of those on this website when military members break the law.
For instance do you recall the soldiers who raped and killed the teenage girl and killed her family to cover it up? At the time I had taken heat from others because I stated that, if guilty, they needed hanging. They confessed and IIRC one got the death penalty. Another got something like 300 years.
However I will NOT condemn the vast majority of our military (including those who have honorably served as guards at Abu Ghraib) based upon a handful of losers and scum bags. There were about 12 involved in those crimes.
The superior treatment given to POWs by the U.S. is not new. I’ve spoken to old Germans who were soldiers during WWII. They told me how treatment in U.S. POW camps was far superior to that which they received by the British.
Go ahead and join those who condemn the U.S. for the smallest transgression of some cowardly scum who never deserved the honor of wearing their uniform. Give every excuse for the atrocities committed by the enemy. That’s your prerogative.
On your FReep page you state your work as an independent film maker brings you in contact with the military. Please be kind enough to clean the knife before sticking in the Soldiers’ backs.

If you had any idea the film I'm working now you'd eat those words but, you know what? It's not my job to straighten you out so have a nice day.
If your project is fair and honest, if it’s not painting a biased picture of a whole group based on the behavior of an extremely small portion then good luck and God bless you.
But answer the question and be honest. Given a choice between a Saudi Prison camp, a Hamas or Hezbollah Prison camp a French Prison camp or a U.S. Prison camp where would you choose to be held?
I wore the marks of an M-1 front sight between my eyes for a very long time. Another, did you ever try to draw back an M-1 operating rod with your nose ? The DI’s in the 50’s were masters of their trade, and I still respect each and every one. Semper Fi, Marines
Maybe the guards got a little off the ranch. That should be taken care of at the unit level.
As for the prisoners, tough luck, its a mean old world. This is why you don't want to go up against us, period. You'll either end up dead, or a POW. As a POW you can expect to be treated fairly, but there are no guarantees in life.
did that really happen? If so, my hat’s off to you brother! Not many males could endure that sort of embarrassment. Guess it takes character to get through those types of situations
Did that really happen? I know this is an old forum, hopefully someone can corroborate this story.. but from Sailor to Marine, THANK YOU for your service!
