Support of the mission in Iraq means nothing unless we only support the actions that further that mission, and abhor behavior like this from the few. Actually, when you read the Army's own report of investigation on this situation, her behavior is quite understandable. Unacceptable, as stated in the report, but understandable.

Regrettably, the report cannot address the fact that just having women in uniform and in positions of authority over men is a humiliation to Arab men.

Justifying Lynndie's behavior is ridiculous. I have friends in Iraq right now and the actions of these few soldiers have tarnished all the hard work and goodwill they are doing. Not in my eyes of course, but the media has had a field day with the pictures. I would like to hear her side of the story but I doubt it would make me any less disgusted by her actions and the actions of her cohorts.

I don't know why everyone assumes that England and the others acted on their own. Since the pictures we've seen were obviously staged, it is likely they were staged for a reason - i.e., to be used to intimidate new inmates: "Talk, or you'll end up like this." If so, that points to a military intelligence officer or CIA official that set up these photo sessions, and it's possible the soldiers were simply ordered to pose with the detainees. Does that mean England and the other participants are innocent victims? No, but it provides a more sensible explanation than a bunch of bored soldiers deciding out of the blue to play S&M games with Iraqi detainees. It also explains why the Pentagon has tried to keep this quiet - it was done intentionally, for a reason that is hard to explain to the media and the average American.

The man on the left basically made the decision that put the man on the right in a situation where the man lost his leg. Both men are seen jogging and smiling. The man on the right has obviously lost a lot. The man on the left has too. He will never be safe. His family will never be safe as long as they live. Many people want to kill them all.

Both men seem at peace with themselves....

Her actions and those of her compatriots went against the UCMJ which govern her behavior in Iraq. Let the military take thier actions against her and let her present any defense to the military justice system. I don't need to see any more of the pictures or hear any more from her. Will one of you please tell me; Is Lynndie England the female who had sexual intercourse in front of those prisoners, and who is the one who was sent back to Fort Bragg because she was impregnated by her MP "boyfriend" in the prison? Unlucky Lynndie is the anti-Jessica Lynch. The latter is blonde, the former brunette. The latter wants to be a teacher, the former plucked chickens. The latter joined the Army to get a job, the former really wanted to be a soldier.

That's what the author calls a soldier!?

What U.S. Army was I in for nearly 24 years that I was a grunt in; meritorious promotion to NCO; commissioned an Infantry LT; etc? What Army? What U.S. Army was Ranger(CPL) Pat Tillman in? Would we have seen him doing something like this...ever?

Lynndie is no soldier...she's a REMF playing tough guy along with a bunch of other ill-disciplined pukes who are a disgrace to the uniform. Them and their chain-of-command need to be investigated and dealt with...the quicker the better...
