OMAHA, Neb. -- A large anhydrous ammonia tank helped Sarpy County Sheriff's deputies bust a suspected methamphetamine lab Tuesday night.
Anhydrous is the key ingredient in meth, and officers spotted a 9,600-gallon tank in front of a house at 151st and Chandler streets. The owners had run a hose from the tank inside the house, according to deputies.
Several arrests were made. No further information was immediately available.

Looks like they omitted the 8-foot neon sign for stealth's sake.

The story DOESN'T report that the tank had 23 tickets illegal parking on the wheelwell..

This would actually be in La Vista or Papillion, which neighbor Omaha to the South, or in an unincorporated area of Sarpy county. 150 and Chandler is quite rural and a tank like this would not draw attention.

Anhydrous is not your nice, friendly, Mr. Clean type ammonia.
About a quarter of a lungful and it's game over, six feet under, hope you like daisies time.

I probably should point out that this was probably on a farm where the presence of farming equipment and livestock would make the presence of large tanks easily explained.

They had an anhydrous ammonia release at the skating rink that seriously injured, blinded one man. As a result of that they descended on my blueline machine like a flock of vultures. From that time on any whiff of ammonia, even just two molecules, was reported to the highest authorities and eventually we had to discontinue blueline operations altogether. Changing tanks was a challenge when the fumes escaped into the room, got to admit.

Where the hell did they rent/buy that thing and what idiot rented it to them?Farmers use anhydrous ammonia as fertilizer,
and such tanks are quite common in rural areas.

I've never heard of anhydrous, sounds potent.
Arrests following a long and complex sting operation netted our local police a couple of dozen of the bad guys recently. Apparently, plain clothed police went into convenience stores, carried two bottles of nasal spray to the checkout counter, and mumbled under their breath they were going to make meth. If the guy making $5.15 an hour sold it to them, they were busted.
