You have no idea what we're fighting with over there. You're the ignorant one.

They aren't going to like us anymore or less if Bush grovels or explains or anything. They'll see it as weakness, and it will embolden them.

It would be interesting to know if the APOLOGY, and it was a true apology that the new General over the prisions issued was done at the request of his superiors.

I know what we're fighting. I also know that I'm fighting idiots who think that keeping rapists as prison guards is a good idea.

Good. Let 'em come, they're easier to kill that way.

Nope, I am a guy.

Anyways, I think you are misportaying what the President just did. I watched both interview, and if anything he reminded me why I like him so much. He came out strong, consistent and forceful.

No waffling, and no appology.

If there is a slipper slope, the President did not step on to it.

BTW: Just watched Ben Wiederman on CNN for Iraqi reaction. It was mixed. Some were saying that this was not enough. bla bla. whine. whine. Whilst another group were greatly impressed by the American reaction, and stated how different this was from the way Saddam was acting.

To me these are promising signs.

We will see how it plays out, but the President did a fine job today.

Cheers.

Somewhere some rep talking head needs to pickup on the idea that our army now has sexual perverts in it... and tie it to Clinton's 'don't ask, don't tell' policy. That's an easy connect.

OK, what do you call someone who forcibly inserts a broomstick into someone else's rectum?

My take on the interviews is that the President had another chance to forcefully state the values of America.

Not a bad thing in my book.

Someone who doesn't have to sweep the floor at night :)

LOL.. just kidding. I agree with you. They're perverts. They're 'don't ask, don't tell' people.

I had not heard that part, I apologize. I had only seen the photos.

If what you said is true, then sure.. Throw them in the slammer.

Let 'em sing "I Fought the Law and the Law Won" for twenty years, making boulders into gravel.

"OK, what do you call someone who forcibly inserts a broomstick into someone else's rectum?"

Someone who has absolutely fallen out of touch with their romantic side.

The media attacks this President no matter what he says or does so he might as well do the right thing and point out that what these particular soldiers did was wrong. In the media's estimation, he didn't do enough because he DIDN'T apologize. The media, as it covers up for John Kerry, will never be a friend to this administration. CNN is acting as though President Bush doesn't really mean anything he is saying to the Arab world; that it is merely damage control. Is that sickening or what? They have their DNC talking points and they're sticking to them. He was also slammed for not going on Al Jazeera! The media works for the terrorists and everybody should realize that by now.

As far as the Arab world views us, his appearance will change a few minds...every mind counts at this point. There would be a lot more hatred out there if he did not address this situation at all - and our media would assist the Arab media in their quest to bring down this President. The elite media is doing a good enough job already.

Absolutely irrelevent! It's not about being liked. That fact does not preclude us from doing the right thing and it looks to me as if President Bush chose to do it this morning.

As a country it's imparative that we take the moral high ground and part of that means doing the right thing regardless of how anyone else perceives it or reacts to it. I couldn't give a rat's hindend about who likes us more as a result.

I'm more concerned about victory in this world war over morality.

Some still question the nuking of Japan, but I say victory at all costs.

We've lost that mentality, and that's what I am upset about.

According to such logic we might as well be molesting their children.

Morallity has no meaning when the moral one does not get a box of candy after their moral act.

Possibly. However, one was a woman (who has gotten knocked up). I don't think she was a rump ranger.

Another possibility: these people have serious personality disorders. About 15 years ago, the US Naval Institute Proceedings published an article that discussed how (a) boot camp screenings do not spot folks with personality disorders, and (b) how these people can screw up a unit in short order. There were some recommendations made...but, as far as I could tell, they were never acted on.
