How articulate with the F-bomb. Your a class act!

It's my inner Marine noncommissioned officer coming out. If you don't like it, here's a sympathy chit and the key to the weep locker.

This is being blown out of proportion and will not believe any of it until all the facts are known.

What facts are known are damning. They don't relieve flag officers--particularly a woman flag officer--without a LOT of cause.

No need to respond with your language.

I will be the judge of that, good sir.

If he comes down too hard, that might breed further resentment of us, and generate new enemies.

Yeah.. that's the fear part, isn't it. We're fighting a war and we're afraid of making more people who may or may not already hate us decide to hate us for sure.

If the fanatics continue to stream in from Iran and Syria, yes.

Less Islamofacists we have to kill later.

I think that sums up this administration's version of the war on terror in a nutshell.

I think great good can come from this... that's why the I believe the President did the right thing.

What an object lesson to the Arab people about the difference between our military and the military that oppresses them.

Would you feel the same way if you knew for certain that the prisoners in question were Al Qaeda terrorists responsible for the deaths of many Americans? .....Or how about if bin Laden himself was the one "bullied and humiliated?"

It's a peculiarity of Americans I think that we have no problem killing the jihadists but that we do have a problem with this depravity and the recording of it on digital media.

I think that peculiar American trait is a good one.

In contrast to my disdain for these amateurs I have nothing but respect for Colonel West, a professional, who did what he had to in order to save his men. Necessity and amusement are not morally equivalent motives.

Who knows what the heck they were thinking. Possibly mistaken orders? Possibly one or two who had too many of their buddies killed and mutilated? Possibly too little training, or training too far in the past?

I suspect that the motivations will eventually be far too public, given that most UCMJ violations (and that is precisely what this is) are pretty quietly pursued and punished (and usually rather severely punished).

I still am a "wait and see" type on this --- and still believe in Romans 8:28 ...

By bringing this to a swift and just closure, we can end it.

The acitons of a few idiots have little impact on the need for us to achieve our gaols. Little Tommy Daschole was crying and whinning on TV last night because he wasn't told soon enough.

Give me a break.

This is war and things like this happen all the time. The difference between us and them is we don't tolerate it and punish those who do it.

This should put an end to it.

Bush should get tough with Iraqi insurgents and those few individuals in our military who place obstacles in his path - like these cretins.

What planet are you on where it's that many islamics?

well, there are hundreds of millons. I think annihilating millons might be a wee bit excessive.

But that is just me..

Didn't anybody ever warn you? I'm always right ;o)

You said you "don't care why the prisoners were in jail," and I'm telling you that who there are and why they're in jail is very important. If they're just some poor Iraqi innocents who were picked up on the street in roadblocks or legitimate Iraqi resistance fighters then it's understandable to be very upset at our "bullying," but if they're international terrorists that came to Iraq simply to thwart out efforts at peace by killing as many Americans and Iraqi civilian helpers as possible then .....frankly, I have no sympathy for them. .....Although I would still disapprove of the bullying -- we should've shot 'em instead (in that case).

The President made his statement on this already.

I'm sure those individulas who were interested heard him.

Those who are not interested won't care what he says or does.

I think its more important to project a view of American justice bringing the perps to trial and punishment, and American power - smashing the miscreants in Fallujah, and, if necessary, Sadr.

Yep... and from the same administration that drew the line in the sand and said "you are either on our side or against us. Those who aid terorist will be treated just like terrorists". I said after that statement was made that it was a BIG statement that we would never enforce the way it was articulated.

Bush didn't apologize... but someone had the new General in charge of the prison do it. A serious apology to the Iraqi people. Of course, the general isn't running for re-election.

I think if you go to a war with 5 million people you have to be willing to kill those whose minds you can't change. Either that or you don't go to war. But that's just my opinion.

But I think your plan is not to Moab 5 million but 2.95 billion... Don't you think that's a little excessive?

And how would you identify the 5 million that hated us and would die for the cause? Do you just do what the Nazis did... Go in and massacre whole villages...men, women, and children? If you do that...how do you know if you killed the correct 5 million?

The problem and solution aren't as black and white as you make it.

I can't believe this thread is causing so much petty arguing.

As someone sagely observed, we have people reacting instead of thinking.

When their abject lack of logic is pointed out, they tend to focus on the petty--i.e., the fact that I used language they dislike--instead of the substantial--namely, that they're acting like the craziest and most deranged posters on DU.
