Some critics of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry have questioned the circumstances surrounding the first of three Purple Hearts Kerry won in Vietnam. Those critics, among them some of Kerry's fellow veterans, have suggested that a wound suffered by Kerry in December 1968 may have made him technically eligible for a Purple Heart but was not severe enough to warrant serious consideration, even for a decoration that was handed out by the thousands. Whatever the case, Kerry was awarded the Purple Heart, and, along with two others he won later, it allowed him to request to leave Vietnam before his tour of duty was finished.
Kerry was treated for the wound at a medical facility in Cam Ranh Bay. The doctor who treated Kerry, Louis Letson, is today a retired general practitioner in Alabama. Letson says he remembers his brief encounter with Kerry 35 years ago because "some of his crewmen related that Lt. Kerry had told them that he would be the next JFK from Massachusetts." Letson says that last year, as the Democratic campaign began to heat up, he told friends that he remembered treating one of the candidates many years ago. In response to their questions, Letson says, he wrote down his recollections of the time. (Letson says he has had no contacts with anyone from the Bush campaign or the Republican party.) What follows is Letson's memory, as he wrote it.
I have a very clear memory of an incident which occurred while I was the Medical Officer at Naval Support Facility, Cam Ranh Bay. John Kerry was a (jg), the OinC or skipper of a Swift boat, newly arrived in Vietnam. On the night of December 2, he was on patrol north of Cam Ranh, up near Nha Trang area. The next day he came to sick bay, the medical facility, for treatment of a wound that had occurred that night.
The story he told was different from what his crewmen had to say about that night. According to Kerry, they had been engaged in a fire fight, receiving small arms fire from on shore. He said that his injury resulted from this enemy action.
Some of his crew confided that they did not receive any fire from shore, but that Kerry had fired a mortar round at close range to some rocks on shore. The crewman thought that the injury was caused by a fragment ricocheting from that mortar round when it struck the rocks.
That seemed to fit the injury which I treated.
What I saw was a small piece of metal sticking very superficially in the skin of Kerry's arm. The metal fragment measured about 1 cm. in length and was about 2 or 3 mm in diameter. It certainly did not look like a round from a rifle.
I simply removed the piece of metal by lifting it out of the skin with forceps. I doubt that it penetrated more than 3 or 4 mm. It did not require probing to find it, did not require any anesthesia to remove it, and did not require any sutures to close the wound.
The wound was covered with a bandaid.
Not [sic] other injuries were reported and I do not recall that there was any reported damage to the boat.
Or a 10 power Jewelers eyeglass & surgical super-fine point tweezers. LOL
This really is going to haunt him, it'll keep him off message (like he has one) and it'll keep sucking the air out of his campaign.
As such, I sense The Beasts cloven hoof prints all over this. I really believe she gave orders to McAwful to harp on his chest full of medals, all the while knowing the scoop on their veracity and worthiness.
She wants him to go down in flames to set her up for '08.
Then why are the mainstream media covering for him? Just to make it look good?
Or is it just that the Dems are fragmented into Those Who Support She Who Must Be Nameless, and Those Who Don't? Internecine Warfare in the Democratic Party?
Seriously, I'm really curious as to how this was plotted out. After all, as Ben Franklin said, "Three can keep a secret if two of them are dead."
PERFECT
He's a "Purple People Eater" !!
LOL!!! And in Kerry's case, it's rather hard to forget somebody who looks like Lurch!!
Yes....and add to the fact that ...
1. The other sailors refuted J F'n K's story and
2. His comment about "being a Senator" as well as
3. J F'n K's general obnoxious behaviour
I never got that particular one. :-)
I did get this one at GTMO. Two gals showed up together at the afternoon Clinic. They had to settle this argument, once and for all, before the other pig-headed one got pregnant.
"......So, I'm telling her that you take 'a' Birth Control Pill before you have sex and she's telling me that I'm wrong and that you take 'a' Birth Control Pill after you have sex. So, which one of us is right?"
Then there was this other case at GTMO.
One of my medical officers was a big, hulking guy, let's call him Hogan, that had joined the base flag football league. One night, I was the Emergency Room medical officer when he drives up with an enlisted guy in acute distress. The enlisted guy had a broken collar bone.
I decided to admit the patient to the Hospital overnight for pain relief which required me to perform a history and physical and Hogan says, "No, I'll admit him to my service. I'm the one who broke his collar bone on the football field so it's only right that I take the admission hit".
That Lt. Hogan....He was an Officer and a Gentleman......When he wasn't, literally, breaking his patients on the football field. :-)
I've been happily married for 15 years, but I'd be even happier if I could get hubby to buy that story. Five, huh? No, come to think of it, I'd be dead. But the mortician would never get the smile off my face.
So, BykrBayb, I said the Marine...."Of course, I can do it five times a night, but, as a Cuban American, it's in my genetic heritage. But you, on the other hand, have to realize that....." ;-)
Actually, it does not matter how many times you can theoretically do it per night. Once you marry a Democrat Californian with issues, it's only wishful thinking. :-)
What a farce Kerry is. I've got chunks of people like him in my stool...
