Elmer C. Krause

April 25, 1963 - April 23, 2004

Sgt. Elmer C. Krause, 40, of High Point, N.C., formerly of Vallejo, died April 23 during military service in Iraq.

Born in Vallejo, Krause was a member of the Army Reserve's 724th Transportation Company, Bartonville, Ill. He was known by the nicknames "Elm," "Chipper" and "Petie."

Survivors include his son, Jonathan G. Krause of North Carolina; sisters, Karen J. Krause of North Carolina, Ronda M. Sexton and Marcia L. McVicor of Vallejo, and Deborah L. Bunting of Fairfield; brother, Gerald J. "Jim" Krause of Fairfield; and longtime friends Katie Hudson of Texas and Becky Oraboni of Vallejo.

Krause was the son of the late Gerald J. and Lois V. Krause.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo, with Chaplain Lt. Col. David Root officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Krause will be buried with full military honors.

The family prefers contributions be made to Jonathan G. Krause, Minor Account, c/o Debbie Wright, First National Bank, P.O. Box 176, Seagrove, N.C., 27341.

God Bless his family, and watch over his son. He's gone to a better place while serving a higher cause... My heart cries for the loss his family is feeling, but I know he has been given a crown with many jewels in a place where it counts! Comfort his family in Jesus' precious name, Amen!
