This is the hill we must defend! Mayday For Marriage

Jeremiahs Call

2 May 2004

My wife and I attended the Mayday for Marriage Rally at SAFECO Field in Seattle on May 1, 2004 with a group from our church in Olympia, WA. It was a very encouraging event in support of traditional marriage. Local pastors from the Seattle area organized the event. There were numerous speakers who spoke out boldly against same-sex marriage.

We were warned there would be opposition, but the number and intensity was a surprise to many of us. We basically had to walk through a gauntlet of harassing gay-rights protesters just to get into the main SAFECO entrance. They were yelling at our group - which included my 8 month pregnant wife, another couple and their two daughters - 15 and 18 years old, and a pastor. Some of the comments directed towards us included “you’re the sinners and will go to hell”, “send out the lions” (reference to the lions that killed the Christians in the first century), “Don’t legalize hate”, “Osama bin Dobson” (reference to one of the speakers - James Dobson), etc.

During the first half of the rally some of the gay-rights protesters (about 200) came into SAFECO stadium and tried to disrupt the event. They were marching up and down the aisles - yelling, acting out in lewd ways, making as much noise as possible to distract us from hearing the speakers. It was sickening to see how they acted in front of many families with small children! They occupied a section in the front rows along the third base line and proceeded to stand, chant, and attempt shout down the speakers. Security kept them from getting violent, but they did not prevent the disruption. There was 20,000 to 25,000 of us who attended the rally in support of marriage - so we clearly outnumbered the homosexuals. They were fairly effective disrupting the first half of the rally. Along with the marching up and down the aisles and occupying a protest section in the front rows, they were also able to broadcast drum beats and chants from another group in the rear of the stadium. However, the momentum started to shift by the middle of the rally. The speakers continued to speak boldly and we realized that our cheering could easily drown out the protester’s noise. The program shifted to music and our “stadium choir” of 20,000 completely overwhelmed the relatively small number of homosexuals. As we sang - they begin to retreat from their protest positions near the lower levels of the stadiums. Praising the Lord and singing of His goodness seemed to be more than most of them could take. Here’s some of the highlights of the speakers:

James Dobson said legalizing gay marriage would have devastating effects to our society in social and economic terms. Medical insurance rates would surge as we all have to pay for the dangerous and unhealthy lifestyle of the thousands of same-sex partners that would be covered in family medical insurance plans. He said that a majority of homosexual relationships are not long term, and those that are, both partners are still usually promiscuous with an average of over 100 partners in a lifetime. He said the church should love people who are in a homosexual lifestyle, but not condone their destructive behavior.

Rob Taylor (a pastor who ended a homosexual lifestyle 13 years ago, is now married - to a women, and has 2 children) said that thousands of others are ending homosexual behavior through ministries such as Metanoia (www.metanoiaonline.org)

Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council said the homosexuals are using the courts to push their agenda and a Federal Marriage Amendment to the US Constitution is the only way to keep the courts from legalizing same-sex marriage. He said the next 12 -18 months will determine the future of our nation. Laws and policy have a huge impact on society (an example is no fault divorce that has resulted in sky rocketing divorce). Full Faith and Credit Clause will cause each state to honor the marriages of other states. If states stop recognizing marriages from other states, what will be ignored next? It will severely weaken our national unity if this issue is left to each state.

Pastor Ken Hutcherson (former Seattle Seahawk player) and now senior pastor of Antioch Bible Church in Kirkland, WA said it was time for heterosexuals to come out of the closet and take a stand. God created a help mate for man (a woman) and established His design for the family from the beginning. Christians need to tell the world not to change what our great and mighty Father has made (marriage). Who is man to change what the Creator of the universe has established?!

Other speakers encouraged people to register to vote. 25% of Washington residents are not registered to vote. Register to vote absentee. There is a greater probability you’ll vote if the ballot is mailed to your house. Many don’t vote because distractions keep them from voting on election day. Jesus told his followers to render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s. As Christians we should render a responsible service as a good citizen and vote.

In summary - The Sanctity of Marriage is such a significant issue - it will affect the future of our society, our country, and ultimately our civilization. It is the foundation of our culture. Marriage is already suffering - we must not allow it to be further degraded. As one speaker stated, “This is the hill we must defend”. The Church and our communities need to start rebuilding marriage with the traditional values of commitment, service, leadership from the father and tender nurturing from the mother. We can overcome radical groups that make up a very small percentage of our population and who are trying to force their ideas on the quiet and often timid majority. As we demonstrated in SAFECO stadium today - we must face opposition together, overcome it with the greater numbers we possess, boldly speak out, take a stand, acknowledge our strength in the Lord through songs of praise and most importantly - through prayer.

Please talk to your local pastors and encourage them to organize a rally in support of traditional marriage. Here’s the website for the group that organized the Mayday for Marriage here in Washington:

Re: Mayday For Marriage

The “stadium choir” is a good point to mention -> it is a terrifyingly sad state for our country when those with the loudest complaints are the ones heard over the majority. I am not saying it is sad that the loudest ones are heard, I am saying it is really rather pathetic when the Majority is the silent group going unheard. Thank you Jeremiahs Call for supporting the rally (I was in San Francisco for their March for Protecting Marriage and had the same experience with the opposition)and for also calling others to really stand-up and be heard.

The ugly behavior of the pro-homosexuals speaks for itself. It speaks volumes for the type of culture we would have without marriage--the glue that holds us and our society together. Hoo-ray for you and all those who were involved in putting on this important meeting with Mr. Dobson. Also, thank you for posting the website for those who want to get help with their problem. How encouraging to know that there are thousands who are successfully changing.

You know what I have come to this conclusion within the last year or three, sometimes deep down I think I've known this all along but it is so obvious now. Many of these people who are so vicious and come up with the "send in the lions" and "hands off my vagina" (sorry to the young readers out there, I need to make my point, IMHO, I'd rather by 1500 miles away from her and if she was the only woman left in the world, well, I guess it's me and my Playstation) and so on, these people are dead spiritually. Not even God can help them, the only people that can help them is themselves if they look in and ee that they are wrong. Not doubting the powers of the Almighty but like alcoholics and drug addicts before they can be helped be it somebody here on Earth or God, they have to come to that conclusion by looking in to themselves. There is no talking to them, our viewpoint of the world is so different from them, is that they shout you down even before you stick the key in and start your engine.

I seem to think that my parents, especially my father was right when he said back in the 1970's that the United States might not survive in it's present form and we could end up in a second Civil War. I hope it doesn't come down to that, but seeing it really for the first time in the 2000 election with the red/blue States and the viciousness of the left, 9-11, the Iraq War, the homosexual marriage issue, abortion last week, I think the time will come that we cannot live in the same house."

I think my parents living through the 1960's have come to that conculsion above, I'll be 38 in July, Dad will by 67, Mom 66 respectively. Mom and I made an observation that seeing what the left is doing now, "we are reliving the 1960's" in a way. I understand how my parents felt about it back then, heck, I remember when I was a toddler, hippies really gave me the creeps.

So where does this leave us, well, we still have to stand up and defend what is right and "keep on truckin'." If we don't we will lose no matter what. some say we will lose even if we fight. The answer is that "for evil to triumph, good men do nothing," so we must stand for something.

Still maybe one optimistic note is the left is getting so blantant, perhaps they will overplay their hand and turn so many people against them, they'll just die on the vine. I remember in Frisco, the Moslem community turned out to protest homosexual marriage and I was glad to see it. If this keeps up, the left will have no friends left in the world, except for the Euroweenies, no great help there. Heck, if I emptied every bar here in Pittsburgh of middle aged guys, passed out M1 Garands and sailed for Europe, that place would be called "Nowhere Man Land" by 5 PM and it will be Miller Time. B-) I know, it's just hyperbole. >B-)

Getting back on track, I just ignore the left and seeing the defense of American values we hold dear as a job that has to be done. Coming to that conclusion, I just fire up the engine, shove the gear shift into drive, and say, "let's roll!"

Homosexual Agenda Ping - First hand account of the Seattle pro-family ant-"gay" marriage rally - eye opening.

Amazing how the authorities didn't throw the "gay" protesters out of the stadium as they disrupted the first half of the meeting.

It sickens me how the cops and other authorities so often kowtow to homosexuals. Sickening.

Let me know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.

Thanks for the summary. I was listening on the radio, but I missed Hutch - was he first? Was it Hutch they were disrupting the most?

That man is so strong and so patient...I am wondering how that all went down.

(And for those who might be wondering, the worship leader was Stephen Michael Newby - and he is GREAT.)

There has already been many good posts on this subject so I'll try to only present fresh material.

First I took almost half an hour calculating how many people were at the Mayday for Marriage rally at Safeco field in Seattle.
Each section on the first level on average is 16 seats wide by 40 deep. At ground level there were about 30 full sections. I did not count the food concourse, the second level or the third level or the left and right field entrances. All these areas had people in them. I came up with almost 25000 just on the ground level alone.
I read they only counted people who came through turnstiles but they also had a few wide gates open and those people were not counted. The total was most likely in the 30k range. My wife and I passed maybe 500 protesters at the entrance at 11AM. There may have been more than that as during Dr. Dobsons speech they (the heterophobes) had some pretty impressive war-drums going. It was hard to hear the speakers.

Also we were about 15 seats away from the gay infiltrators along the third base line. There was at no point more than a hundred of them. One guy(?) looked like a Mardigras reveler on crack. One young woman had on a wedding veil as a mock paster wedded her to her girlfriend in front of all of us. Another guy enjoyed flipping his rainbow colored penis pillow into the air where all could see it. I am very glad my wife an I decided not to bring our children.

The police did not remove them because the rally leadership/speakers indicated that since we are loving-tolerant Christians that it was OK for them to stay. They did finally give up when the singing started(it was also hot out)
I could hear them disrupting up in the food concourse several times and they were also going gangbusters with their drums out on the street.

I hope that we as Christians don't spend too much time trying to convert these people. They know what they are doing is wrong. They don't care! We have informed them of the good news of Christ and they can either accept or reject the message. From now on though their actions are a declaration of war on our culture and we have a right and a DUTY to shut these perverts down NOW! PERIOD!
We outnumbered them 30 to 1. Shut up and get back in the closet.
Like all other major struggles in the history of the US this will progress beyond words to violence. It is starting now in Canada. It has been made 'hate-speech' to preach on certain parts of the bible. They announced this at the rally. You can go to jail for telling gays they are sinning.

The day will come when a goon with a gun and a warrant will knock on my door to take my kids away because I said something wrong.
On that day the full aspects of the 2nd Amendment will come into play on my front porch.
We better stand together now under the 1st...

I really appreciate your report. My perspective was no different, and I have video to prove how rude and somewhat lewd these protesters were. I posted a report on FR WA locale and here is a copy:

An estimated 20,000 to 25,000 were in attendance, according to a KING5 TV NEWS report. I'd say the Mayday for Marriage was a success. Even the hecklers (heteral-phobics in denial) were welcome inside. I estimate between 100-200 protesters inside and when they left they combined with another 200+ oustide the stadium to create a wall of harrassment for those exiting. Early on, once inside the "safe" they marched and chanted. Some sat in one section and the other "fruitcakes" marched up and down the main corridor while they chanted loudly. They tried to shout over the speaker inside and they also had a marching band outside to create more noise. The squeaky wheel concept was alive and well, in this case the 3% U.S. population, who are sexually dis-orented, will forcefully decide for the rest of us how we shall be governed. I thought to myself, "Don't push your immorality on me". They were very cocky and lacked any good reason to be. This time, I think they pushed too far and our "backs are against the wall"...we have to fight back, legally speaking. They are the terrorists and we are victims in wait...unless we ban together both in prayer and action.

We obviously need more activism where it counts. Perhaps apply pressure on the "black-robed" activists, mayors and other supporting officials who pander to the gay agenda.

The rally was a very positive one, it was not about "gay bashing", rather it was a first step to protect marriage from a gay mockery. Especially given the fact that the gays use corrupt means to achieve their goals. The reality is, they started this decades ago with indoctrination in school and that has swayed enough people to sympathize their cause for civil rights.

There was a black preacher, who even sounded a bit like MLK, who brought the original civil rights issue in perspective to differentiate between gays and blacks. All the speakers spoke wise words, and they didn't mince words...PC did not enter in.

I just hope you don't have some judges who think they know better than everyone else, and decide to put it in place by judicial fiat.

This is especially a danger when you have a bunch of WEENIES in your State legislature who pi$$ away opportunites provided for them by their constituents to put Constitutional Amendments in place!

This is what happened in MA, and beginning in a couple of weeks, homosexual 'marriage' will be 'legal' and there's not a damn thing the citizens of MA can do about it! Oh, the legislators passes some tepid Constitutional amendment provision that said no marriage, but allowed for civil unions (which provide all the bennies of marriage without the name) and we citizens, who didn't ask for what the legislature passed MIGHT be 'allowed' to vote on that in 2006.

Most Town Clerks in the state are even saying they're not going to check whether or not the folks applying for marriage licenses are even residents of MA. So there will be thousands of homosexuals traveling to MA for the express purpose of 'getting married' then going back to their own states to try to force it on the citizens there.

We all got the same name-calling from the gay protesters, and I like mine best: "baby killer." I say now is the time to act and contact your elected officials to move the Federal Marriage Amendment for a vote. Here is an excellent web site where you can get all the information you need: www.nogaymarriage.com

We also need to get our Pastors acting on this, so I encourage you to talk to your pastor. After all, this isn't a political issue anymore...it's an issue that could very well destroy churches. Look what is happening to Canada as we speak.
