Apparently... neither NARAL, MoveOn.org, nor the DNC had yet claimed responsibility, before this article went to press...
Justice Souter Attacked While Jogging
Saturday, May. 01, 2004
WASHINGTON (AP) - Supreme Court Justice David Souter suffered minor injuries when a group of young men assaulted him as he jogged on a city street, a court spokeswoman and Metropolitan Police said Saturday. The attack occurred about 9 p.m. Friday, and Supreme Court police took Souter, 64, to a Washington hospital, court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said.

Justice Stephen Breyer was thrown from his bicycle several years ago and suffered minor injuries.Alert Supreme Court police officers wrestled the bicycle to the ground.....

He will likely have a different view on crime now. Good point. It seems like there's an old saying that goes something like "A Conservative is a Liberal who has been mugged."

Wonder if this will give him some new perspective on that whole "The security...the right...the people...shall not be infringed" thingy?Actually, IIRC, elected members of the House and Senate (I don't believe that the staff are included), can become deputized members of the Capital police department, and then qualify for CCW in Washington DC! It's nice to be the king, huh? To bad that the citizens, who actually have to live there, can't even buy a gun for self defense. Don't have to bother with the rules, like the complete ban on civilians to own handguns, let alone being able to carry one. It wouldn't suprise me if the members of the SCOTUS also had that little perk.

Justice Souter has mad some good decisions, and bad
decisions. Jogging at night in DC, was a poor choice.

It shows how safe gun control makes people. The muggers know their victims will be unarmed.

OK, I'm from Baton Rouge. Whats up with "whats the frequency Kenneth"?

CBS news anchor Dan Rather was assaulted one night in New York City about 15 years ago. I don't think he was robbed, and the assailant didn't recognize him. The guy just walked up to him, asked him, "What's the frequency Kenneth?" -- and started beating the crap out of him.

Wonder if this will give him some new perspective on that whole "The security...the right...the people...shall not be infringed" thingy? Here's the thing that doesn't add up. Isn't a Supreme Court Justice guarded 24/7? If they aren't they damn well ought to be.
I can't imagine them taking such a risk as to jog alone, especially given the heightened security climate in 2004.

There's more to this story than I posted. Check out this link -- and look under the story "What's the Frequency?" I didn't realize that they had identified the assailant.

I would think that SCJ's would have security guards.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of the incident. BTW great pics on your "about" page; I need to move my a$$ and make one, and c'mon, ya'll have dust up there?
Rather deserved the ass-kicking for being Dan the Anchor Man!
