Commission Chairman Thomas Kean said the 31/2-hour meeting produced information the panel didn't have previously, but no surprises

Hope this mean there were more facts pointing to WJ(F)C, not doing his job and not passing on relevant information to his predecessor ....etc......No one would be surprised at that.

Finally, Commissioner Jamie Gorelick, as a member of the Clinton administration, was so intimately involved in forming the U.S. government's pre-9/11 attitude toward terrorism that she should've been one of the panel's public, under-oath witnesses instead of hectoring others about what they did and didn't do to prevent the attacks.

Thomas Kean says I am the most non-partisan, bi-partisan member of the 911 Commission. Well, ain't I SPECIAL !?

"P.S. Hillary mentioned on Letterman that there was a commision after Pearl Harbor. (Like Duh)."

Did she mention that the "commission" after Pearl Harbor wasn't held until Truman was in office? At least I THINK that's correct! I assumed that at that time, no matter what suspicions there might have been about Roosevelt and Pearl Harbor, that the country was so united that questioning who was at fault would have been unthinkable. (I was very young...have NO recollection of that stuff)

Some years back, before "W" was on the national radar screen I attended a meeting in Huntsville Texas that included a group of eggheads Bush had working on a project in the Texas prison system.

These people were Phd.'s from various universities. Several were from U.T. Austin. They made it very clear that Bush was extremely smart. And that he had incredible organizational skills. On the project they were working on they said that if they "did not hit their marks" timewise on the project they would be gone. And "W" would replace the with someone that would get the job done.

I'd love to have been in that meeting today. I'm not exactly sure what happened but I'm very sure it was an eye-opener for those that have not dealt with "W" one-on-one.

We are in good hands.

Figure their (media) silence says it all -- the lack of leaks also says that what he told the Commission would not make the Clintons and the RATs look good!

Hillary was such a dufus...saying it like she remembered it from third grade or something. However, she never mentioned the 9-11 Joint Security Commision which occured before this latest 9-11 commision made of of non-partisans (yeh, right).

The first commissions report is available in full on the web (I forget how I found it. I just googled till I found something with the report...and recommendations.

I just love it when we see it all knitted together....yet, they did nothing!!!!!!!!! AT THE SAME TIME, Saddam was begging and getting support to get the UN out of there and it likely would have occurred if Usama didn't hit us.

Do you realize what this does??? Not to be morbid or anything, but if something does happen before the election, the president has insulated himself from the political maneuverings of the Democrats, because he has lassoed them into being co-responsible by virtue of their involvement in this commission. They can no longer sit on the sidelines lobbing stink bombs without getting all smelly themselves.

I was glad to hear Leno grill Kerrey & Hamilton the other night for leaving early. Honestly, if your a member of this commission and your interviewing the President & Vice President with the goal of preventing another 9/11, what could possibly be more important? The crowd cheered too. This was not lost on the general public.

Yes, we heard after the meeting that most of the questions were for the President, and he answered them all himself, with no assistance from Cheney. That didn't stop the obsessively anti-Bush cartoonist David Horsey from drawing a cartoon (see the seattlepi.com website, David Horsey cartoon dated April 30) which shows Cheney as a ventriloquist holding a puppet which is meant to represent Bush.

Horsey has Cheney saying, "Whatever happened, it was Clinton's fault!" and having the puppet say, "...or Kerry's!"

Of course the first part of that is largely true, even if the Bush Administration has gone out of its way to avoid trying to blame its predecessor.

Did she mention that the "commission" after Pearl Harbor wasn't held until Truman was in office?

The Joint Congressional Commission (79th Congress) was convened (I believe) after the war. As I recall, the investigation concentrated on, and blame was placed on on General Short and Admiral H. E. Kimmell, who were in command of the Army and Navy respectively, at Pearl on December 7, 1941.

There was little or no disunity in this country during the entire war. We had 16 million men under arms, and everyone in one way or another was involved.

It was about like the days after the 9-11, except spread from December 7, 1941 to the end of the war in 1945.

PKM, thanks for the ping.

EXPECTED REPORT OF TERRORIST COMMISSION

When Bush was Governor of Texas, even before he had Presidential aspirations, he failed miserably in his duty to wage war on bin Laden and to prevent states two thousand miles away from his against terrorist attacks a half-decade before they might otherwise occur. He should have authored plans to contain al-Qaida. Bill Clinton performed admirably in his duties, coming short only because he lacked the support of the demented people of the loser State of Texas and their loony Governor. Clinton maintained terrorism as his top priority throughout his Administration inasmuch as it was possible given the fact that Governor Bush undermined his authority relentlessly. The Governor of Texas was supposed to arm, train, and equip an army, navy, and air force--using the experience that he could have acquired in the National Guard, had he served in Vietnam instead of deserting. These Texas Rangers were to work in top secret, cooperating with the Texas International Intelligence Network (TIIN)--held in super top secret even from Washington--to arrest bin Laden and send him to New York and to break up his terrorist network. Governor Bush failed miserably in his responsibilities to track, arrest, disrupt, and even to surveil terrorists halfway around the globe through TIIN, which he didn't even bother creating.

He was also obsessed with Saddam Hussein throughout his Governorship. Thanks to the incompetence of Governor Bush, TIIN failed to penetrate the nuclear black market of Abdul Qadeer Khan in Pakistan, a nuclear power that the Shrub didn't even recognize. He also failed to depose Kim Jong-il early in his governorship and to use the TIIN properly to contain the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

He focused too intensely on running a fabulously unsuccessful presidential race and neglected entirely the terrorist threat in 1999 and 2000 in spite of his rising national aspirations. At the end of that year, he was compelled to resign in disgrace, having been a miserable failure as governor. Although he lost the election in a landslide because the American people recognized him as a demented lunatic and pathologically lying idiot, the corrupt, anti-choice Supreme Court installed him to the Presidency.

Even after having acquired the Presidency, Governor Bush lacked the mental capacity to annihilate Israel to appease the terrorists, as any reasonably intelligent patriot would have done. He remained too obsessed with Iraq and Saddam Hussein to even consider al-Qaida, despite repeated and increasingly desperate pleas and advice from ex-President Clinton, his brilliant wife Hillary, and even members of his own staff. In fact, he had never heard of bin Laden until this commission informed him that the terrorist was behind the attacks.

Bush must be impeached, convicted, and removed.

Did I get into DU yet? I think I've followed Goorelick and bin Vineesta's "thinking," as well as that of The New York Times and John F. Kerry.

I just realized today that one of the major issues for 9/11, the wall, is now down because of the Patriot Act. However, this provision is about to sunset .. which means the wall will go back up in 2005. Looks like the dems were planning on being back in the WH.
