Cow cut, drained in Arborg: Mutilation mystifies
The Winnipeg Sun ^ | Thursday, April 29, 2004 | NATALIE PONA

Posted on 05/01/2004 5:57:00 AM PDT by Momaw Nadon

An Arborg cattle farmer made a horrific discovery Monday when he found the partially skinned carcass of one of his animals that was missing its tongue and apparently drained of its blood. "The whole thing has turned out to be more sinister than I thought," said Yvonne, a neighbour, who examined the mutilated animal. She asked not to have her last name used to protect her family.

"What sort of weirdos have we got travelling in our neighbourhood?"

Gordon, who would only allow The Sun to print his first name, said he discovered the carcass on his farm Monday afternoon.

"I don't really want to speculate on what happened. I know what I saw," he said, adding he is still shaken up by the find.

Arborg is 100 kilometres north of Winnipeg.

COW MUTILATIONS

The mutilation happened Saturday or Sunday night, Gordon said. No one heard anything.

He's heard of several cow mutilations in the area over the past few years, Gordon said.

He called the RCMP, reporting that the animal had been attacked by a predator. He has since changed his mind about the cause.

"It was definitely a sharp object used," he said.

Arborg RCMP Cpl. Glenn Syme said he has never investigated an instance of cattle mutilation. The RCMP did take a call this week about a cow being attacked by a predator, likely from Gordon.

SKIN PULLED FROM FACE

The animal was found with an incision under its chin. The skin had been pulled from the face, exposing the teeth.

"It's not the gore, we've seen that before, it's the evil behind it," Yvonne said.

The tip of the animal's tongue, cut from its root, was placed in the mouth, she said.

"There's not a drop of blood in that animal. The only way you can drain an animal of blood is (to cut into it) with the heart still pumping," Yvonne said.

The cuts were very precise, as if made by a surgeon, she said.

"You don't know who you're dealing with ... the average wild and woolly neighbourhood brat wouldn't be capable of doing it," she said.

Gordon and Yvonne called Fern Belzil, an Alberta-based investigator of unexplained deaths who has been studying cow mutilations for eight years, for help.

Belzil has studied 100 cases, two-thirds of which remain unexplained.

"I'm not saying it's aliens ... a lot points towards aliens but there is no proof," he said.

Belzil said he has never encountered any evidence pointing to who or what is killing cows.

"It's a real mystery," he said.

Quixx, over here!

This reminds me of the mysterious cattle mutillations of the 1970's.

This is clearly an incidental case of meeting campaign logistics by the RAT's...

See, the thing is they're all vampires.

As they ramp up for elections, the need to feed their army of evil minions grows in proportion to the campaign workers they field. In off years, the average vampire RAT manages to feed itself with bugs, snakes and the odd wino in urban cesspools...but, every four years they mysteriously begin to congregate in writhing masses like mating worms and gestate a new champion to challenge truth, freedom and the path of light. The draining of blood from large mammals usually found in rural environs meets the physical needs of the vampire RAT army and is remote enough to maintain a fair degree of security in the concealment of their vast plan of evil.

Any other mysteries I can solve?

That sort of thing has been going on here in Colorado for years. I always kinda liked the theory that it's evil government scientists testing for nuclear fallout from the 40's. 50's, 60's or testing their new medical technology. An animal with it's face down in the grass feeding all day is going to pick up whatever poisons are in the grass with it's lips, and tongue first, it will also concentrate poisons and genetic damage in it's reproductive system, but who the heck knows. I have a hunting buddy with a 40,000 acre spread down to south east Colorado. He's got a bunch of cattle and all his neighbors have a bunch too. I'll give him a call today or tonight and find out if there's been anything fishy going on lately. It'll give me an excuse to invite myself down for a prairie dog shoot. I'll post what he has to say later on this thread.

Oh and by the way for those who are squeamish about shooting prairie dogs, in an ecosystem out of balance, shooting prairie dogs that have infested (prairie dogs run amok, pasture land looking like moon scape) grazing land is more humane than poisoning which can kill other beneficial critters and predators.

An animal that dies out on the open range goes thru some serious surgical banquet mutilation.

First, as it's dying from weakness, shock, tetnus, or from ingesting some noxious plant, the eagles, hawks, crows, and vultures will pluck out the eyeballs. Next, the eagles will start surgically removing strips of flesh from the hind quaters, shoulders and back. This offers the best meat while the animal is still alive and tasty. In cool weather this can go on for a week before actual death occurs.

Next, after death, the eagles and hawks leave. They only prefer fresh prarie sushi. Now come the coyotes, foxes, vultures, and badgers. First thing they go for are the entrails(innerds and intestines). And yes, they remove them from the back end first. It's like pulling out rope. You keep on pulling for hours. Every now and then, a bladder, stomach, liver or such accompanies the intestines. In the summer , this ends the party, since the meat is pretty foul by this point. It's left for the rats, maggots, and insects. The hair or fur will make nice nesting material for every bird, rabbit, or vermin for a mile around. In the winter, the coyotes and wolves will dine on the carcass for months between good fresh kills.

It's esay to conclude that anyone stumbling on natures buffet party might confuse it for some strange animal mutilation, especially around the time it's been surgically skinned in strips and either barely alive or just dead with half it's intestines pulled out in what might look like an anal probe gone Manson.

I have great respect for eagles, but I did not know that they could cut off cow parts with surgical precision.

That sounds very sensible blackdog. Not as mysterious as my evil government scientists but pretty dang accurate.

I have a rancher aquaintance that told me he has actually seen eagles attack sheep by flying towards them and running them until the sheep are over-tired.

Then the eagle will separate one sheep from the rest and attack the back of the neck with a single attack that usually breaks the spine.

The eagle feasts until full and leaves the rest for the remainder of the food-chain to consume.

Ever see this type of thing or was this guy pulling my chain?

How would you explain the cow being completely drained of blood?

In an attempt to copy the Detroit Red Wings tradition of throwing an octopus on the ice, a Calgary Flames fan threw a cow tongue on the ice during game 4 Thursday night. Hmmm?

Has anyone heard the Big Foot Stories out of Whitehall, Montana? Seems that one may have been killed and covered up by the feds.......
