What Hillary told the Arab world …and why the tone of anti-war criticism matters

Last Tuesday, we pointed out comments made by Sen. Hillary Clinton to an Arab newspaper, blasting the Bush administration.
She said of the Bush administration: "Their stubbornness and arrogance is breathtaking. And, as a result, we continue to go down a path that I think is fraught with horrible dangers, especially for the young men and women serving in Iraq, but also for Iraqis, for the stability of the region."
Her complaints were published by Arab newspapers and repeated across the Middle East.
I reminded the senator that she and other public figures have to be extremely careful about what they say to the press while our troops are in the middle of a Fallujah firefight. For the most part, Senator Clinton has been responsible with her words since 9/11. But early Wednesday morning, Ms. Clinton's office began calling our staff and the MSNBC President Rick Kaplan claiming the statements we reported were never made by the senator.
At about 10 a.m. ET., we got an angry phone call from her office demanding an apology and a retraction. They said she never spoke to the Arab press, she never criticized the president, and, in fact, never did the interview at all.
Our producers immediately double-checked our sources and we tracked down the reporter who did the interview with Senator Clinton. By noon, we found out that the interview did take place. Then, they insisted that the interview that she had was with a freelance journalist, and not the Arab paper that eventually ran her story. It was established that the interview was conducted in New York.
The senator's press secretary then started to back down. By 4:30 p.m., the senator's representatives admitted that she had done the interview. She did know the reporter was writing to an international audience, and she did criticize the president.
That line of reasoning proves my point even more: When we are in the midst of a war, what is whispered to any reporter will surely be shouted from the mountains across the Arab world.

Guess Hillary will be eating Thanksgiving turkey with Bill stateside this year.

Attempting to flush the statements doen the Memory Hole. I'm surprised MSNBC's response wasn't, "Yes, Your Highness."
There are words which do not exist in English anymore - words like, "Treason", "Sedition", and "Honor".

Hillary should have already been in prison for other charges. What's one "treason" charge added to her list of offenses?

The left is setting the stage for Kerry by invoking Vietnam and encouraging terrorism and insurgency.
If they win the WH in this election they will have set the stage for a debacle under their watch. Of course any questioning of their mishandling this war will be met with cries of division and unpatriotic behavior by the media and all, virtually all newpapers, but they will have created a situation in which they will be responsible for chaos.

Hillary now the Queen of insurgents? The woman is as traitorous as her husband...they have NO loyalty to America or Americans. She badmouths her countrymen to the enemy giving them hope they can divide the country not to mention how devastating such remarks and pronouncements are to our military.
Mrs. Clinton, your husbands record stands as testimony to the mess the world and our country is in today. Your blathering is as empty as the promises made during the Clinton years in the White House. Not only are you lying, you are shielding a serial rapist; a living breathing danger to young women everywhere.

Is there not some chosen curse, some hidden thunder in the stores of heaven, red with uncommon wrath, to blast the man who owes his greatness to his country's ruin!" -- Joseph Addison.
(Picked up that wonderful quote atWinter Soldier.com)
We are not engaged specifically, with the Arabs in a war; but our elected Representatives, Hillary and the Democrat Senators et al; should pay a price for their crossing such a fine line while we fight our war against terrorism.
Glad to see Joe Scarborough speak up on this but don't understand the overall 'sounds of silence' from Repubs et al. . .

They said she never spoke to the Arab press, she never criticized the president, and, in fact, never did the interview at all. That depends, of course, on what the meaning of 'did' is, and the Clintonian concept of 'never'.

Even her press secretary that insisted the interview never took place, isn't immune to lying. A few hours later backing down on the charge.

It seems to me that when one of these shrill anti-war comments by the likes of Hillary, Ted Kennedy or John Kerry makes the news there is an increase in attacks on US troops. If I were the enemy and was watching CNN, I would certainly believe my strategy of trying to weaken the support for the war by random terror killings is working.
