Arlington, VA - James Garner, Mayor of Hempstead, NY issued the following statement addressing Sen. John Kerry's record on jobs, health care and education:
"From jobs to health care to education, America's mayors realize that John Kerry's rhetoric doesn't match his record on the important issues facing our cities. Kerry's economic plan would destroy jobs by raising taxes on all Americans. During his first 14 years in the Senate, Kerry sponsored just two bills related to health care and Kerry missed 36 of 38 votes on last year's Medicare prescription drug bill. Kerry's attacks on the No Child Left Behind legislation are false and at odds with Kerry's own vote for the groundbreaking education reforms.
"While President Bush's policies are growing our economy, Kerry has offered nothing but contradictions and misleading attacks."
Mayor Garner became Long Island's first African-American mayor in 1989. Hempstead is the largest and oldest incorporated village in Nassau County

The list of people not supporting Kerry grows daily! :) Kerry's campaign "health chart" looks like a downhill slalom map.

Well, he did contribute to Gray Davis.
Anyway, I've always liked Garner. He's a Korean War vet, btw, with a purple heart.

Yeah, but is this going to be a typical NY GOP performance? How many times are they going to permit Democratic congressmen to win on Long Island? When is Pataki going to dump an avalanche of money into the fray to make sure that the Republicans win again in the New York suburbs. The guy is great at providing every Republican nationwide with money; however, it's like the guy who mows everyone else's lawn and forgets his own.

you again...
