April 29, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - Splurging federal workers used their government-issued credit cards to buy Oakley sunglasses, leather bomber jackets, jewelry, fine wine - and even a mounted deer head, according to a bombshell report. One employee also bought two cars, paid for "surgical enhancements" and picked up a motorbike - making dozens of fraudulent purchases worth more than $132,000, the General Accounting Office said.

The problem is that, this being the Federal government, NOTHING will happen to these criminals.

After all, it isn't their money that was stolen and wasted on this fraud, it was ours.

This is exactly like the handgun 'problem'

What we have here is not a lack of controls, it's a lack of enforcement. Destroy those who break the current rules and you'll find that not only do you not nead any additional control but you can greatly relax the rules already in place.

Strong laws and weak enforcement (or penalties) equal no control at all.
