A 'Slam-Dunk Case' [Bush WMD caution pre-war]

A funny thing has happened to the accusation that President Bush "lied" or "misled" Americans about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Bob Woodward's new book, "Plan of Attack," blows the charge away, not that you've read about that in many other places.

Instead, we've all heard mostly about the book's report that Colin Powell wasn't keen on going to war. This we already knew. The real news is what Mr. Woodward tells us about the President's state of mind concerning Iraq's weapons when he ordered American troops into battle: His Director of Central Intelligence had assured him that the WMD case was a "slam dunk."

Mr. Woodward describes a December 2002 Oval Office meeting in which CIA Director George Tenet and a deputy brief the President, Vice President, National Security Adviser and White House Chief of Staff on the status of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction.

According to the lying crooked liberals, President Bush has "secret" intel so maybe "Tenet" was not President Bush's only reliable source!!!!

That's right. Can't you people see it! The President knew all the intelligence agencies were wrong. Then he decided to make WMD a key part of his war justification knowing it would be proven wrong. So he's simultaneously smarter than the entire rest of the world and dumber than a post. reductio ad absurdam

I have a lot of faith in Bush's integrity.I never thought he lied.
I have never thought he was perfect,or he never makes a mistake,or could not be wrong, but never would I believe he lied about the WMD.

Actually since we have learned that "GORELICK" put in place a "wall" to prevent "INTEL" gathering and knew Tenet very well. I believe that what took place were reliable sources outside of this "inner circle" of DOJ and CIA provided the "INTEL" that President Bush used.

President Bush did not bring "YES" men to power with him, like the Clintons did. We may never know the sources of President Bush's INTEL, but Rockey's LEAKED MEMO lets us know there was INTEL that these lying crooked liberals could not get their hands on.

I believe that is why these lying crooked liberals demanded and got their "HOAX" of a 9/11 "The Commission" to get their hands on that INTEL.

I think we are being premature in assuming that there aren't or weren't any. Even with the corruption of the Oil-for-Food-but-not-Really Program, how could a $100million dollar (total, not annual) oil production be converted into over $100 billion in cash?

Michael Ledeen wrote about 3 weeks ago that he likes and respects David Kay, but he also had inside scoop that there were leads that were credible that Kay didn't pursue for lack of time.

Earlier this week, CNN and AP news were reporting that weapon components from Iraq were making their way to Europe and were contaminated with the dreaded (but purportedly non-existent) yellowcake uranium.

Isn't it possible that the Oil-for-Food-but-not-Really also was cover for illegal weapons deals? France, China and Russia do big weapons sales. They need the cash and their economies are starved.

Why do we assume that the brutal and greedy dictator did not convert weapons or components to cash?
