"I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat"

Two Chinese diplomats, away from their Los Angeles consulate improperly, recently sped their vehicle past a Los Alamos National Laboratory guard post near classified facilities in what U.S. officials think was an intelligence mission, The Washington Times has learned.

That is a wonderful, helful guide that Jill has on her site from Shane. We should all print a copy. But, I think it will make you both more comfortable to know that Shane's piece has been around for quite a long while and I do not think Jill put it up to address any imminent threat. I mean, an imminent threat can come to fruition on the spur of the moment, but I do not think Shane or Jill want anyone to panic or to think anything specific is imminent.

I have my copy of that Shane piece since oh about the summer of 2002 or shortly thereafter. If Jill saw a specific imminent threat, I believe she would be explicit about it. I am certain she would want folks to print a copy of the guide and be prepared though. I would never mean to speak for Shane or Jill, and I am only going by the availability of Shane's guide 2 years ago or more and Jill's usual refreshing frankness.

I just do not want anyone to worry any more than they might have worried all along. We should always be prepared, but we should not read more into certain things than necessary. Not that doing that is an easy thing to do, because it is very difficult to discern during these hectic days.

P.S. Shane's site is where I stocked up on some potassium iodide pills right after 911. There is also a wonderful full length book that he offers for free reading and printing online called Nuclear War Survival Skills by Cresson Kearney. I found my treasured hard copy on ebay or amazon auctions just before 911 before I even knew about Shane's site. Then, after 911, I went shopping for the nuke pills and I noticed Shane has the entire book downloaded and available on his site for free or you can purchase a hard copy through him I think. His site is an absolute wealth of information on surviving a nuke attack and general nuke and radiation topics.

Look at this paragraph I am sick of this feeeeeling's bull. They are trying to kill people and worried about the mussssslims feeeeeling's. And they are hold up in a mosque.

"The incident will definitely affect Muslim people's feelings. They will have bad feelings towards authorities and the turmoil will continue. It will not be resolved," he said.

The rest I also don't understand why this isn't getting more news time.

Over 100 dead in southern Thai clashes

Wednesday 28 April 2004, 18:46 Makka Time, 15:46 GMT

Youths with machetes and a few guns fought armed police

Clashes between security forces and rebels in Thailand's south have left at least 100 dead in one of the bloodiest battles in the history of the troubled region.

Police and soldiers fought armed groups who launched dawn attacks at 10 locations in the three provinces of Yala, Pattani and Songkhla which lie near the Malaysian border.

"The attackers were mostly teenagers, and they targeted police and army checkpoints," said regional police commander Prung Boonpadung.

Major Chitnart Bunnothok, spokesman for the Fourth Army which patrols the troubled region, said 93 attackers were killed, 12 were injured and one was arrested.

"The toll is likely to go higher because we have not yet cleared all the areas," he said.

Low police casualties

Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said only two security personnel were killed and that the toll was low because police and army were well prepared and the attackers were only armed with machetes and a few guns.

Security forces have suffered
minimal casualties

Authorities said fighting was continuing at a mosque in Pattani province where rebels were holed up.

"We have sealed off the mosque in order to get them alive so we can question them and know their real motives," said Deputy Prime Minister Chavalit Yongchaiyudh.

The attacks were the latest in a series of bombings, raids and murders in Thailand's southern provinces, which over the past four months have claimed the lives of about 65 members of the security forces, government officials and Buddhist monks.

Deputy director of the Internal Security Command, General Panlop Pinmanee, said it was "absolutely certain" the rebels were separatists and they were trained by Muslim armed groups operating in the south.

Fears

Thaksin did not contradict Panlop's assertion that separatists were to blame, but downplayed the sectarian nature of the trouble, saying the militia responsible was made up of both Thai Muslims and Buddhists.

"I am really concerned that the problems in
the south will escalate even further"

Abd al-Rosue Aree,
deputy chairman, Islamic Council, Narathiwat

Islamic leaders said they feared Wednesday's unprecedented violence and the high death toll among the young rebels would spark a major deterioration in the south.

"I am really concerned that the problems in the south will escalate even further," said Abd al-Rosue Aree, deputy chairman of the Islamic Council in Narathiwat.

"The incident will definitely affect Muslim people's feelings. They will have bad feelings towards authorities and the turmoil will continue. It will not be resolved," he said.

Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist nation, but about 5% of the population is Muslim living mostly in the five southern provinces bordering Malaysia.

A separatist movement raged in the region until the 1980s until a government campaign largely ended the movement, but troubles have flared again in recent years, sparking fears that rebels had been mobilised by armed groups from abroad.

Weren't the jihad forums suggesting that the "attacks" would come 2 days after the communists' Big Day--which is May 1st celebration.

So we have more than 3 days :)

The jihadi's have been bragging about hitting the US for quite some time---years. What is worrying me is that we are seeing them put their plans into action.

Ok, here's a dream. Had it 4 or so years ago. One of those dreams that are "realler than real" and you sit up bolt upright in bed afterwards, wide awake and unable to sleep.

I'll condense it: Seeing war machines, on water, in the sky, emitting fire and death. In the dark sky, there were what looked like stars, then they appeared to be moving, and were apparently airplanes, and they moved to form the "eternity" symbol - like a moebus strip.

Next scene - I am going into strangers' houses, one by one, begging them to say the name of the Lord, to take shelter of the name of the Lord, and that this was the only thing that would save them. I was trying to get to as many as possible. Only a few would listen.

Did you say May 1?
Check this out!
http://www.financialsense.com/Market/wrapup.htm

The financial market saw red ink flowing everywhere today. Virtually every asset group including stocks, bonds, commodities and precious metals took a significant hit throughout the trading day. It all started with announcements out of China that they needed to get serious about slowing down their overheated economy. China ordered 11 of its top banks to cease all lending until May 1st, and at that point it’s possible some new lending policies will be forthcoming. According to a Bloomberg article, a vice governor of the People’s Bank of China, Wu Xiaoling said the government was trying to slow China’s economic growth to less than 8% this year from a six-year high of 9.1% last year. It’s looking like China is the economic center for global growth, and the news brought asset prices down across the board. For U.S. investors, there was practically nowhere to hide except good old cash or going short on just about anything.

The U.S. dollar had a huge day to the upside with a final close on the dollar index at 91.45. Of the majors, the two biggest losers in the foreign exchange arena were the commodity driven currencies, the Australian dollar and the Canadian dollar with losses of 1.67% and 1.29% respectively. The yen dropped 0.51% to 0.9103 and the euro fell 0.78% to 1.1825. The dollar strength was attributed to the prospect of rising interest rates and expectations of a strong GDP number for the first quarter which will be released tomorrow.

Yes, we should be prepared but remain hopeful that they cannot follow through here in the U.S...although I do not like attacks abroad any better. I know it is inevitable -- another attack -- perhaps a spate of them here and perhaps many more abroad -- but I am hoping nothing is imminent and unstoppable.

Is this a new new new tape or are they just behind in the news?

Dubai, April 28 (NNN) : In a new tape, the Al-Qaeda terror network has denied responsibility for the suicide car bomb attack in Riyadh last week but warned of "fierce" attacks in 2004 against American and other western targets.

The tape, which can be heard on an Islamist website, says the attack on a police centre was a consequence of the Saudi rulers' "infidel policies”.

Last week was the first time that the Saudi state was directly targeted as opposed to a foreign target. The tape says the Saudi royal family and its alliances with Christians and Jews was the reason for the attack.

Americans, Jews and "Crusaders", as western troops are called, will continue to be targeted by al-Qaeda, the tape says. "This year, God willing, will be fiercer and harsher for them," it concludes.

The audiotape, attributed to senior al-Qaeda member Abdul Aziz al-Muqrin, has warned that Americans will be targeted ‘everywhere’ and ‘more severely’ this year.

"Muslims should stay away from American civilian and military places and gatherings," said the voice on the tape carried by Islamist websites, including www.al-ansar.biz.

"We warn Americans against maintaining their presence in the Arabian Peninsula, and establishing bases, pursuing their occupation of Muslim countries, supporting the Jews in Palestine and the apostate and dictatorial governments in Islamic countries," added the voice purported to be that of Abu Hajer Abdul Aziz al-Muqrin, who has taken over as al-Qaeda’s chief of operations for the Gulf, replacing Khaled Ali bin Ali Haj, a Yemeni, who was shot dead by Saudi police in Riyadh in March.

"We continue to attack Americans everywhere in the world until they stop their aggression and withdraw their soldiers from Muslim territories," the voice threatened. "The Jews, Americans and the Crusaders in general remain the target of our next operations, which this year will be more severe," added the voice, however, the authenticity of the tape could not be verified.

This tape, if authentic, does not contradict the original claim of responsibility for the Riyadh bombing, which came from a group called the al-Haramain Brigades. They said they were just filling in for al-Qaeda, while it was preoccupied with its Jihad against crusaders.

Most analysts do not believe that a religious revolution is threatened in Saudi Arabia, but clerics in the country associated with the militants have claimed there are tens of thousands of armed men who want to get rid of the royal family.

These militants do not all belong to al-Qaeda but certainly sympathise with its world view.

Darn global warming. My roof was bone dry just 30 minutes ago. Now I have an inch of snow on it. More is falling. My beautiful green lawn is all white again. The driveway and streets are still warm from the mid-70's temps this week. No accumulation there...yet.

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The U.N. Security Council voted unanimously on Wednesday for a U.S.-drafted resolution that would punish black marketeers who traffic in nuclear, chemical and biological weapons components.

The measure would obligate all 191 U.N. member nations to punish "non-state actors" dealing in parts and technology for weapons of mass destruction.

Even Pakistan, which had misgivings until the last minute, voted for the resolution in the 15-nation council, giving the Bush administration and its allies a clean sweep.

Pakistan admitted this year that Abdul Qadeer Khan, a scientist revered as the father of the country's nuclear bomb, had smuggled nuclear secrets to North Korea, Iran and Libya, and was under house arrest.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorist leaders killed in Tulkarem

28 Apr 2004

(Communicated by Israeli security sources)

Ashraf Nafa, the leader of the Hamas in Tulkarem, and Amjed Ramhi Amra, an Islamic Jihad senior terrorist were killed tonight during IDF activity in the refugee camp in Tulkarem.

IDF forces identified three Palestinian gunmen, armed with assault rifles and a pistol. IDF soldiers opened fire, killing two and wounding the third, who was evacuated to an Israeli hospital in serious condition.

The two terrorists who were killed are:

Ashraf Hasan Nafa, the leader of the Hamas in Tulkarem, 21 years old, resident of the Tulkarem refugee camp.

Nafa was connected to Hizbullah officials in Lebanon and responsible for the terror attack which took place in the community of Avnei Hefetz on April 3, 2004, in which an Israeli civilian was murdered and his daughter was lightly injured.

Nafa was also responsible for the recruitment of terrorists and suicide bombers for the Hamas terror organization. He was involved in the preparation of explosive devices and the perpertration of shooting attacks in the area of Tulkarem as well as the planning of suicide attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF forces in Israel and the West Bank.

On January 2004, the Israeli security forces thwarted an infiltration attack directed by Nafa, which was to have taken place in the community of Einav, east of Avnei Hefetz. The security forces arrested Rami Ranem, 22, from Tulkarem, the terrorist who intended to carry out this attack.

Amjed Ramhi Amra, a senior terrorist in the Islamic Jihad, 21 years old, resident of the Tulkarem refugee camp.

Amra was connected to Hizbullah officials in Lebanon and planned terror attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF forces in the area of Tulkarem and inside Israel. He was also involved with explosive devices and shooting attacks in the area of Tulkarem.
