Yes, JOAT since Jan 10. 'Others' since 97. Yes, I use multiple names.

Now for you slower types, here are some links to peruse:

Weaker Dollar Desired Link 1

Weaker Dollar Desired Link 2

Snippet below:

At the press conference for the communiqué's release, Treasury Secretary John Snow -- the U.S.'s point man on the dollar -- was asked if the new sentence about not wanting excessive volatility was a signal the U.S. felt the dollar had fallen far enough.

Weaker Dollar Desired Link 3

Snippet below:

"The United States is largely satisfied with the weak dollar and won't do much to strengthen it."

So you are one of those trolls with multiple IDs, and a bad dose of paranoia to boot. Why do you have so many? What are you hiding? By the way did I tell you your mouth is a sewer.

Nice kneejerk doofus.

You don't understand or disagree so you throw out a Kerry picture.

The point of my original post was this administration undertook a reasoned course to devalue our currency. So you guys interpret that observation as 'Liberal'

No wonder our side is labeled the stupid party by the Rats. Try clicking and reading the articles I linked in post 62. Yes, the government undertook devaluing our dollar. Saying so is an observation, not a political statement.

I'm hiding nothing "engineer."

Why don't you attempt to deal with the facts I presented now instead of diverting on a bunny chase. My length of time in the forum or my alias is truly irrelevant. What is important for conservatives is to understand policy and comment on it rather than calling out 'troll' or 'liberal' when something is new and strange to you.

Because our money is worth less today than it was 6 months ago.

By around 25%-30%.

The policy I am referring to is the engineered devaluation of the dollar versus the Euro.

Consider this example. Let’s assume that the US dollar is worth 30% less against the euro than a year ago. All that means is that I have to pay $1.30 for a €1.00.

It does not mean that my money is worth 30% less across the board.

Still as part of the example, I went to buy a BMW last year, and it would have cost me $40,000. Eventually, I decided to postpone the purchase until this year.

Since the BMW was made in Europe, does that mean that I have to pay $40,000 plus another 30% because of the strong euro?

Not necessarily. The BMW manufacturer discounted its product by 30% to stay competitive in the US. Therefore, I went out and bought a BMW for $40,000. In this example, my money is not worth 20 -30% less, not even against the strong euro.

Therefore, the strong euro might eat away at foreign profit for sure, but how it affects me depends on several other factors.

Agreed. However the Euro is not the only currency our dollar has been devalued in relation to.

The point I hope people understand is that oil prices are 'higher' but a percentage of that is actually due to a devaluing process encouraged as policy by our government.

It appears that the administration undertook this course to protect the dollar as the world's de facto currency. (The OPEC states have been accepting only sales in dollars since 1971.)

Russia, Venezuela, Iran and until the war, Iraq switched over to sales in Euros. This would be disastrous to the dollar, and of course our economy. I guess pointing this out somehow makes me a troll, but I think the administration chose to devalue the dollar to head off a worse result.

Your tattletale post exemplifies the problem plaguing conservative circles. 'Get the infidel who DARES to post facts that are disagreeable!'

So you try to get me BANNED for using different nicks.

What a pathetic representation of what the 'circle the wagons' mentality produces.

BTW, since I have already openly stated I have more than one alias, do you really think banning this account will stop me from posting facts? All my nicks comply with the stated purpose of this forum and I don't excessively abuse people, unless you consider responding to shrill, immature cries of 'troll' abusive.

You sure like the word 'kneejerk'.
And insulting people.
How about toning it down some?
Besides, comment on the thread subject, not hijack the thread for your own purposes.

Besides, your instant reactions to people shows the same kneejerk reaction you so decry in others.
Try to have a nice day.

"Tattletale?"
Hey, you said it yourself, and if you do use other names, it's somewhat not kosher to pass yourself off as someone else while using them, as per Admin Mod advice.
SO, if you want to be respected and not thought of as a troll for using multiple names, how about standing and delivering, and saying just who you originally were?
And not pass yourself off as different people while using other handles?

Multiple handles is somewhat of a 'no no' here.
If you've been here since 97, then you already know this.

Hijacking a thread newbie is not new to me. What wonderful facts and secrets to life to you alone profess to have? Besides exhibiting the intelligence of a mushroom you exhibit tinfoil paranoia to boot.

How about telling us why you hijacked the thread and why you find it necessary to troll around with a new "alleged" alias?

Did I tell you that your economic "theory" is neither enlightened nor is it new. Beyond your senseless babble, the tinfoil paleo-junk science you call economics is nothing more than protectionist economics and paranoia.

Now why don't you run back to DU like a good little troll and leave the discussion of the new Iraq flag to adults.

I can see where in Europe that would be the case if we were buying oil in euros.

However, oil is traded in American dollars.

If inflation was really even half a problem you would be hearing the dims screaming about it daily Hourly. They just don't have much to run on.

I don't mean to sound condescending, it just sounded very odd to be talking about inflation of 25-30% in 6 mos. I haven't heard or seen anything resembling inflation especially that much from anybody anywhere close to the U.S.

Europe would be buying from us if they had the money. When they follow us out of the recession, they will start buying again.

How does one 'hijack' a ZOTTED thread? It's already been killed and is just for fun from that point on, so get over your bloated sense of sanctimonious self-importance.

BTW, I am very impressed by your 'grasp' of so many things! I guess I'm curious how you made the jump of 'logic' that made you conclude that a discussion of currency devaluation policy (something you conveniently stopped talking about the second I posted links) makes me a 'troll' or a protectionist. My mushroom-like intelligence is trembling with anticipation to soak in your brilliance....

Wow, I'm now a 'libertarian' too. The redefining (with out basis) is really astounding. This silly ZOT thread has educated me that I am a 'troll,' a newbie, a DU poster, a Kerry supporter not to mention my penchant for wearing tin foil.

Considering I posted links to back-up my assertion that the government deliberately chose a path of currency devaluation, it is indicative of the sorry state this forum is sinking to. Rather than talk about the facts, many here simply do a mindless denunciation routine if they disagree.

PA has instructed me to leave this 'discussion' to the adults. I'm waiting for them to show up.
