Teresa: Abortion ends a life
Teresa Heinz Kerry
WASHINGTON - Teresa Heinz Kerry says she's pro-choice but believes abortion is "stopping the process of life," it was reported yesterday. "I don't view abortion as just a nothing," said Heinz Kerry in an interview with Newsweek, in which she took a side in the long-festering debate over when life begins.
The comments on abortion by the wife of presumed Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry came during a weekend where an estimated half-million people marched in Washington to support women's reproductive rights.
"My belief - and I maybe am very wrong - is that women, generally speaking, do not want to have abortions," Heinz Kerry said.
"With the exception of people who are mindless - and there will always be mindless people of both sexes - most women wouldn't want to," she added.
Heinz Kerry once said that she was "not 100% pro-choice," but told the magazine that now the issue is black and white for her.
"I ask myself if I had a 13-year-old daughter who got drunk one night and got pregnant, what would I do. Christ, I'd go nuts," Heinz Kerry said.
Asked if he shares his wife's views, Kerry told Newsweek, "I do not know the answer to that. We've never - she's never had to vote."
Kerry appeared at an abortion rights rally in Washington Friday, saying, "Abortion should be rare but it should be safe and legal. And the government should stay out of the bedrooms of Americans."
Both husband and wife agree that she is more traditional in her values than the Massachusetts senator, owing to the fact that she's five years older.
"He's of the generation of the Beatles, and that's the line of demarcation," Heinz Kerry said.

So she's saying that abortion is murder, but she's for it?

...she's never had to vote." Is he talking about votes in the senate, or voting in general. Is Teresa Heinz Kerry eligible to vote?

Well, yeah, basically.Sounds like she's against it unless it were an inconvenience or might tarnish the family name.(i.e., 13 year old daughter getting pregnant scenario)
What a nutcase.

"I ask myself if I had a 13-year-old daughter who got drunk one night and got pregnant, what would I do. Christ, I'd go nuts," Heinz Kerry said. Yes, but would she advise her daughter to have the baby or not? That's the key question, and she dodges it, pleading mental instability.

Teresa Heinz: "I was opposed to abortion before I was in favor of it."
Sounds like something John F'ing Kerry would say...

She'll be taken to the woodshed for that comment. Give it a couple of days and you'll hear the back peddling.
I recal about a dozen or so years ago that Diane Feinstein said abortion for sex selectionwas wrong, and wow did they snap her back in line fast.

Another example of two completely contradictory thoughts, held in mind at the same time. I believe this is known as "Kerrythink."

"I ask myself if I had a 13-year-old daughter who got drunk one night and got pregnant, what would I do. Christ, I'd go nuts," Heinz Kerry said. Oh,in that case, it would be ok to kill the baby.
Try as hard as you like, you can't find in this any more thought or principle than: The more inconvenient a life is, the less it is a life.
That's all abortion rights arguments amount to.

So she's saying that abortion is murder, but she's for it? That is the first thing that I thought.

Laura Bush's abortion comments 'personal views,' Fleischer says

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Laura Bush, the wife of President-elect George W. Bush, said Friday she believes the country could do more to minimize the number of abortions, but also indicated she doesn't believe the 1973 Supreme Court ruling legalizing abortions should be overturned.
"No, I don't think it should be overturned," Mrs. Bush told NBC's "Today Show" when asked about the high court's decision, Roe vs. Wade.
Mrs. Bush did not respond in the interview when asked if a woman had a right to an abortion. Instead, she said the country should do "what we can to limit the number of abortions, to try to reduce the number of abortions in a lot of ways, and that is, by talking about responsibility with girls and boys, by teaching abstinence, having abstinence classes everywhere in schools and in churches and in Sunday school," she replied.

Interesting that she would put it that way. She is trying to sound like she supports abortion but doesn't support it.
Interestingly, when polled with the question: "Should would be able to have abortions?" a majority of women say yes.
But when you ask, "Should women be able to use abortion as a form of birth control?", the majority say no. Similarly when asked, "Should a 13 year old girl be able to get an abortion without the consent of her parents?", a vast majority also say no.

Another GOOD reason NOT to vote for Kerry. She simply would not make a good first lady. She is not well-spoken and seems to like to interject a few expletives now and then.
The only thing positive about her, according to this article, is that she seems to have a "little" understanding that just "maybe" it isn't such a good thing to end a baby's life. At least that is more than a lot of the pro-choicers feel. She just may have a twinge of a conscience.
For all of her money and obvious influence, though, she is just not a match for the sophistication and class of Laura Bush.....in appearance and demeanor.
To: Hildy
The same thought applies to HER.
To: Pikamax
She didn't get the Democratic talking points memo.
