I hate to see Marines dying while searching out the enemy hiding and shooting from around corners, and from behind blasted-out buildings. There should be one of these hovering over every contested street corner and looking through every suspect window and doorway, equipped with video/IR, and a light machine gun.

The author -- Darrin Mortenson -- has been writing some of the best, most descriptive front-line articles that I've read in a long, long time. Reminds me of the print reporter from WWII that we used to get from writers like Hemmingway, Pyle, Gellhorn, and even the presently despised Andy Rooney. I look for Mortenson's reports from Iraq every two or three days. He does our soldiers justice.

Gen. Kimmett was describing an action this morning in his press conference. Some insurgents took over a building and set up firing positions. An AC-130 came around and when things were done, they found 25 dead insurgents.

I didn't catch where this happened.
