What good points? That attack the record of a vet is now Republican policy?

Bump for your post. You're one of the best, Polybius.

This is a conservative not a Republican forum. "Us" means conservative.Since you seem to be behind the flow of information on that, too, here is the stated policy of the owner of this forum.

I can't go along with this. Kerry must be defeated or we all lose big time.
Bush will fight and win the war on terrorism. Kerry will surrender.
Bush has basically told the UN to shove it. Kerry will make the US subservient to the UN.
Bush has rejected the Kyoto treaty. Kerry is an environmentalist and will bring it back with welcoming arms.
Bush is pro-life, has taken the first steps toward ending abortion. Kerry is an abortionist.
Bush defends marriage. Kerry is a homosexualist.
Bush is a tax cutter. The economy is coming back. The tax cut is allowing wealth creation. Kerry is a tax raiser. He will confiscate wealth.
Bush will appoint conservative judges. Kerry will appoint liberal activists only.
Kerry is an America hating traitor.

And that differs from what I am saying how? Do you even know that the argument/problem with me is that I don't think it is smart or of good taste to attack Kerry's service record?

Are you saying that, generally speaking, liberals do care about America? The same racist, sexist, imperialist America that the rest of us inhabit? You know, the America that oppresses women, "people of color," that destroys the environment, that exploits the Third World?
Is that what you're saying?
To: Destro
Got it - the only ones who can spit on a veteren is another vetren. Surely you can come up with a better strawman arguement than that, Destro.
Benedict Arnorld, Timothy McVeigh, Eddie Slovik and William Calley were all veterans.
By your strawman criteria, a criticism of Calley's war crimes, a criticism of Slovik's cowardice and a criticism of Arnold's treason would all qualify as "spitting on a veteran".
Have you ever considered that every individual's military record is unique and that the mere fact that one is a veteran does not automatically confer sainthood upon the individual nor immunity from an objective analysis of his military record?
Why don't you try to at least attempt to make your points by arguing the facts instead of confining your debate to throwing out silly strawmen?

This sounds just like his OER. Which, by the way, clearly identified sKerry as a sub-standard performer.
Sidebar: As a young Lt in the AF my OERs from that period had a total of two down checks (less than Firewalls) and they were the first two so I could show "improvement". Co-pilots at the same time and rank only got one down check since they, like sKerry, were in "command" positions.
If there was an operation to remove shrapnel then he would have spent a few days in the hospital in the recovery ward. Nothing against the medics but any operation done in country ran the risk of infection - it came with the territory.
Looking at the "report" - cut away damaged tissue and then elected to let the piece stay?
In MHO this smells:
1. When you cut away damaged tissue the wounded person has suffered a serious injury - this procedure isnt something to be done lightly because of complication risks.
2. All the times, prior to this, that I have heard of a medical team electing to leave in a piece of shrapnel is when the medical risks of removal is greater than risks of TEMPORARILY leaving it in.
3. Any one who had this level of medical treatment would not be allowed to immediately return to duty.
4. Any one who had this level of medical treatment would be ordered to report for follow up treatment either in country, at an enroute facility, or in the CONUS.

That is a hoot!
Sorta like, "We will assemble at 1300 hours. For all you Reservists, that's 1 in the afternoon. For all you Marines, Mickey's big hand is on the twelve, and his little hand is on the one . . . "

I don't think it is smart politics or of good taste to attack Kerry's service record. Maybe it would be smart politics to attack Kerry's record if Bush's record of service was more inspiring but attacking Kerry's war record forces a comparison and that comparison makes Bush look lesser in weight. So to offset this a segment has decided to also lesson Kerry's military contribution - belittle it and denigrate it so that his war record can be besmirched and thus not used against Bush - so this side hopes.
I want no part in such policies. Thankfully for my continued support, so far such an attack is not directed by the Bush campaign because Bush unlike many on the cretins on this forum has too much class to do such a thing.

I see your point, destro, but here's the problem.
It doesn't MATTER whether we attack Kerry's lies about his military record or NOT. Kerry's team started with the attacks on Bush BEFORE anybody had said a word about his record. He will continue with those attacks no matter what.
When Republicans make nice-nice with the Democrats, it makes no difference - they will keep on comparing Bush's record with Kerry's and bad-mouthing Bush. If nobody criticizes the obvious lies and revisions in Kerry's record, then he will just keep on hitting Bush and nobody will challenge him.
You assume that the Dems have manners, morals, and a conscience. None of the above are true.

and again my poiint is - the solution is to become like the Democrats? Attack his post war record - what he did after his service when he was his own man and not wearing Uncle Sam's uniform.

oh come on Destro - don't you think this crew deserves to poke holes @ Kerry's service "record" after listening to the 'bash bush' mantra day after day from the US media? It's not like we're taking out ads such as "move on" aka Geo Soros does - Chill, ok?
To: Destro
But if we don't challenge his OBVIOUS lies, we're giving him a pass just like the media. Then he can continue to attack Bush from the exalted throne of "Vietnam War Veteran" and scream that we're "attacking his patriotism" every time anybody criticizes any of his "post war record". That's what he's done so far, anyway.
I'm not criticizing his service (even though I think he was a s***bird who did as little as possible and got out of harm's way as quickly as he could). I'm criticizing his manipulating and lying about his record (not to mention his creepy insistence on reliving it at every opportunity. That's just not normal. My dad didn't talk about his real combat in WWII until just recently. BTW, he was wounded by shrapnel but didn't accept a PH because so many of his buddies were hurt so much worse.)

This don't critique sKerry, or you'll get hillary nonsense is folly. Don't fear the hillary, laugh at it. She is less electable than sKerry.

does this mean Kerry had his head between his legs and just got lucky it didnt hit him in the eyeIt means that Kerry's leg is now legally blind.
I wonder if he can add that to his resume and be America's first leg-blinded purple-hearted, Vietnam-vetted, peace-protesting Irish Jew married to a white African American.
