Boy you said it.. thats like a line from Braveheart 'dying in your beds of old age, would you trade all of those years for one chance to do it all over again and back up your brother (in the Rangers) ?'

Pat won't ever have to worry about that

Thank you Mr. Tillman for taking the fight to them.
Thank you God for Americans like Mr. Tillman.

God please provide the ignorant and blind among us wth the knowledge and sight to see and understand that if this is not done now that the death toll from a war in our streets would be even higher.

"It is, in a way, an odd thing to honor those who died in defense of our
country, in defense of us, in wars afar away. The imagination plays a
trick. We see these soldiers in our mind as old and wise. We see them as
something like the Founding Fathers, grave and gray-haired. But most of
them were boys when they died, and they gave up two lives, the one they
were living and the one they would have lived. When they died, they gave
up their chance to be husbands and fathers and grandfathers. They gave
up their chance to be revered old men. They gave up everything for our
country, for us. And all we can do is remember." --Ronald Reagan

"This man gave up a career full of personal gratification to fight for America. I truly admired him then and more so now. God bless him."

May we all find in ourselves the courage and conviction this man displayed. A tremendous loss.... A tremendous inspiration.

For some reason, I was just thinking about him last night... wondering if he was still deployed, etc. I was hoping all was well.

Why, oh why do people like Pat Tillman and Barbara Olsen die and losers like Al Franken and Jeaneane Garofalo live. I'll never understand.

I turned 60 this January.

I can still pass the PCPT test and shoot expert with pistol, rifle and GPMG.

I am desert familiar from reporter work during DS/DS.

I still jump 4-5 times a quarter, can hump a heavy ruck, am reasonably anti-social, can still curse for half an hour without repeating myself....... and I do so love the work!

If my President calls, I'm ready on 4 hours notice.

Absolutely.

So no one should have been surprised last spring when Tillman, entering his fourth NFL season, shucked it all and joined his brother, Kevin, in setting out to become an Army Ranger. What's a three-year, $3.6 million pro football contract when you can collect $18,000 a year from Uncle Sam? Pat Tillman gave up the glamour of the NFL to serve his country.

So sad an ending to his neat story.

In the beginning there came a man to the world, a protector and savior of men. He spoke the language of many--mostly he spoke care and concern for his fellowmen. He was trained in the arts of war and killing. He was the ultimate warrior. One who stood among men not as a god or noble -- but as another man. Just a man. His exploits were far and many and many of his enemies he did kill -- always protecting his people and his land. He understood sacrifice and he offered his life to his country and its people. For him, life was hard and many scorned him as a killer. That was easier than trying to understand his dedication to his people. Women feared and loved him for his mysterious ways of seeing life. Nobles saw him as a lesser individual who didn't know that the real values in life were money and power. To them he was ignorant. To his comrades he was a brother who understands all. To his family he was pride and honor. To himself he was a man of special dedication -- one who puts his country and his people before anything else in his life. God saw him as a son for He saw in the man sacrifice, love, and courage while he was scorned for his beliefs. Jesus saw him as a special brother and saves a special place in heaven for him. His enemies saw him as the reaper of death and they feared him. The warrior, the soldier, the Ranger, the soul child who sits in the lap of the King Immortal Supreme. The blood from his body will always stain the earth. The earth will swallow his body and the sky will always offer her tears to his memory.

Dedicated to those who fought and died before me giving me the soil on which I stand and love and serve to defend. To those Rangers before me who have given honor and standards in courage to live up to. Oh God, I pray that I never fail myself. May my children never feel the hand of Evil that lurks as a shadow over the world.
