Discrepancies noted in Kerry's record, Ex-skipper says website wrong

WASHINGTON -- Vietnam combat records posted on John F. Kerry's campaign website for the month of January 1969 as evidence of his service aboard swift boat No. 94 describe action that occurred before Kerry was skipper of that craft, according to the officer who said he commanded the boat at the time.

On the site, the Massachusetts senator is described as the skipper of Navy boat No. 94 during several actions in late January 1969.

However, Edward Peck, who was the skipper of the 94 before Kerry took over, said combat reports posted by the campaign for January 1969 involve action when he was the skipper, not Kerry. Peck, who was seriously wounded in fighting that took place on Jan. 29, 1969, said he believes Kerry campaign aides made a mistake in claiming Kerry as skipper of the 94 at that time.

On the Kerry website, the report of the combat on that day on the 94 boat is posted as occurring during Kerry's time as skipper of the boat. Peck said Kerry replaced him after the Jan. 29, 1969, event.

"Those are definitely mine," Peck said, referring to the combat reports that the Kerry campaign posted as representing Kerry's action. "There is no doubt about it."

Do not click file save as.

Right click the link to the pdf, and choose "Save Target As..."

Doing this will save the PDF only, and not all the nauseus Kerry Website stuff with it.

So from the page that lists the PDF's, just roll through them right clicking and choosing "Save Target As...". Save them all to a folder on your desktop and tuck away for a rainy day.

Kerry is sinking faster than a swift boat with a 5 foot hole in the hull.

He is a cofounder of the Vietnam Veterans of America and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Kerry is also a member of the NamVets Association, the SWIFT Boat Sailors Association, and is the honorary co-chair of the United States Navy Memorial Foundation, a Corporate Council Member of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund and sits on the Advisory Council for the Library of Congress’s Veterans History Project

Interesting about all of his affiliations. It is far different from what he wrote in his "New Soldier":

And so a New Soldier has returned to America, to a nation torn apart by the killing we were asked to do. But, unlike veterans of other wars and some of this one, the New Soldier does not accept the old myths.

We will not quickly join those who march on Veterans' Day waving small flags, calling to memory those thousands who died for the "greater glory of the United States." We will not accept the rhetoric. We will not readily join the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars-in fact, we will find it hard to join anything at all and when we do, we will demand relevancy such as other organizations have recently been unable to provide. We will not take solace from the creation of monuments or the naming of parks after a select few of the thousands of dead Americans and Vietnamese. We will not uphold traditions which decorously memorialize that which was base and grim.

I might add that according to Kerry's Financial Disclosure forms, Kerry joined the American Legion in 1989, the Vietnam Vets of America also in 1989, and became a life member of the VFW in Feb 2002, Viet Vets Memorial Fund Aug 1999, and Nam Vets Assn of Cape Cod July 1998. Interestingly, his 2003 disclosure form does not list the American Legion. All are transparent image building efforts.

there was mention of BUPERS 1300.18 that Kerry used to get out of the navy. I did a search for said BUPERS article and found the following site.

Compare the February 28,1969 account in your post to this:
Admiral Elmo Zumwalt later joked that he wasn’t sure if he should give Kerry the Silver Star or court-martial him for his actions on February 28, 1969. Kerry had ignored standard operating procedure as his squadron ferried troops up the river that day. “He had talked to me about trying something different,” Mike Medeiros, a crew member from San Leandro, California, said. “He said he was tired of just going up the river and getting shot at. He asked me what I thought about turning to attack the enemy positions if we took fire and no one was hurt. I said it might not be a bad idea.”

If he turned his boats toward the shore, Kerry believed, he would transform a long, horizontal target into a narrower, vertical one. “It would concentrate both of our machine guns directly on the point of fire and surprise the hell out of them,” and it would keep the twenty soldiers each boat was carrying astern out of the line of fire, Kerry recalled. “When the firing began, I gave the order to turn and—phoom!—we just went in and beached and took them by complete surprise, and we routed them and we didn’t take a wound.”

As Kerry’s boat crashed ashore, a lone Vietcong stood up holding a B-40 rocket-propelled grenade launcher. “When he first stood up, he froze, because he didn’t expect to see us staring him in the face, literally ten yards away.” The man was wounded by one of Kerry’s crewmates and began to run; Kerry leaped off the boat and chased him. “I didn’t want to let him get away. I didn’t want him to run away and turn around with an active B-40 and take us out. There but for the grace of God . . . The guy could have pulled the trigger and I wouldn’t be here today.”

I read the article - sadly for our side it does not dispute mush else beyond that action that created the circumstances for Kerry to be made skipper. The kills / medals, etc are not in "dispute".

Kerry and his campaign are scum for creating a false impression that it was Kerry that was part of that action, rather than the man that was actually there.

So.

This guy was skipper of 94 in January, and Kerry claims he was skipper in January. And that he was wounded in action in January.

Does that mean that Kerry got his first Purple Heart from someone else's wounds?
