Great post! This deserves a lot more media attention. Will it get it? Probably not from the 60 Minutes crowd.

Fine, let's hope this draws the attention it deserves.
But, the UN has never had adequate financial reporting or accountability. Inbound funding does not go to a public, central "accounts receivable" unit, it goes directly to the program and it goes, for the most part, secretly.
Several years back, there was the story of the woman who had depositied in her personal account a big chink of cash which shes refused to give back. The money was from some government to fund it's share of a UN program and one digit had been entered in error and the money deposited in the woman's account, instead. How many times has this happened? How many times is the account the personal account of some UN poo-bah?
I hope they will carefully examine the Food-For-Oil-Enrichment-Of-UN-Officials-Program, but am reasonably sure that, after a cursory examination, there will be little done.

Already known, for example, is that two firms doing business with Saddam through Oil-for-Food were linked to financier Ahmed Idris Nasreddin, now on the UNs own watchlist of individuals "belonging to or associated with" al Qaeda. Ha! The UN aided funding to the terrorists!

I don't get it. Martha Stewart get jail time for a $10,000 stock fraud that actually hurt no-one. The perpetrators of a $600,000,000 fraud at Tyco get a mistrial. Then, the perpetrators of a $10,000,000,000 fraud get to establish an entire government in the Middle east.
Why don't we get together and steel $50,000,000,000 from someone. They'll probably give us Europe.

Great article!
It is is extraordinary that the media is barely whimpered anything from this VERY important story. This might be one of the biggest scandals in the entire year.
Does anybody scatter-shot this story to the entire mainstream media. This story needs to give it the Paul Revere treatment!
Pass along this international scandal from your friends.
