[history]
John O'Neill, the Vietnam veteran who took on John Kerry in the 1971 debate on American "war crimes" that was recently rebroadcast on C-SPAN, will be interviewed by Wolf Blitzer on CNN this evening. O'Neill, who commanded a Swift boat in the same division as Kerry -- though for considerably longer -- more than held his own against Kerry during a 90-minute special broadcast of the Dick Cavett Show. Now he is challenging Senator Kerry to continue the debate they began 33 years ago, in an effort to clear the names of the Vietnam veterans Kerry once accused of war crimes "committed on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command."

Late last month C-SPAN replayed a 1971
Dick Cavett Show debate between John O'Neill and Frenchy Forbes. Kerry spouted Hanoi's hard-line negotiating position throughout, arguing that America must cut and run immediately (i.e. not even attempt to
negotiate to preserve a non-Communist South Vietnamese government) in exchange for North Vietnam's
promise to release P.O.W.s only after a
total American withdrawal.
O'Neill cleaned Kerry's clock. He caught him in one lie, misrepresentation or flip-flop after another, often refuting Kerry by quoting Kerry's own words. Read freeper comments in the following thread:

Now a Larry King telephone interview with Saudi Prince from last night. More CNN BS, I've had enough.

CNN has noted that the O'Neill segment is going to air -- they are running right now a story on Saudi oil "deal" nonsense Kerry has been trying to stir up. O'Neill probably not until after 5:30 PM.

Tee-hee.......something is up. I have noticed a small but definitive breaking away from Kerry by several news outlets. They are distancing themselves from him, do ya think he could be pulling out?

I was over at DU for a while earlier and they are praying a surprise new candidate steps up at the convention. My fear is that it really will happen, as there is not enough time that soon before an election to discredit a surprise replacement for the pitiful candidate they are faced with right now. Those Dems will vote for ANYONE else the Dems put forward to oust Bush.

Some more CNN left-wing promotion of Iraq war casualties at 5:30 pm -- they have shown two teasers of the O'Neill/Kerry 1971 debate, Blitzer knows the O'Neill interview will hold some audience.
