John Kerry comes across as a tough, humorless campaigner, which may be the best thing he has going for him in his bid for the U.S. presidency. Obviously, a lot of voters in the Democratic primaries liked his attack-dog bites of George W. Bush's ankles. That's why he will be the party's candidate in November.

(John Kerry's been AWOL for two decades on issues of National Security!)
But Mr. Volcker says he won't take the job without Security Council approval. Are France and Russia going to agree that Mr. Volcker can poke through their dirty linen?
A great article, although not much I didn't realize.
I hope that the US formalizes a Security Council resolution and has a vote asking that Mr.Volcker head an Oil-for-Corruption investigation.
Forcing a veto by the French and/or Russians would be priceless.

((.Praying for President Bush, our troops, their families, and all my American neighbors..))
We'll see the UN oil-for-food records around the same time we'll see Kerry's military records.

As of 2 days ago only Russia stood in the way. Now they agreed. Reason being there are several other investigations starting outside the UN and doing nothing will confirm the UN's POS status.
Sounds like the Russians gave in to the proposal. The Frogs don't dare veto this one.

(Time to admit this is a war of Islam versus the US. They are ALL the enemy.)
attack-dog bites of George W. Bush's ankles
LOL! This reminds me of the rabid caller to KTSA a few days ago that called the host an "un-neutered chihuahua" for talking about Gorelick's conflict of interest.
"a Democratic administration...would have an easier time...building friendships in...places where Socialist parties and the socialist press are still strong"
Yes, anybody want to guess why???
"Kerry...doesn't have Clinton's...political agility."
"...but look what happened later"
...as the result of Clinton's political agility and also as the result of all that socialism that has been tried again and again and again with the same--predictable--disastrous results but which Democrats insist we must try just one more time...blah blah blah... "I just know it'll work. It's just gotta."

(My parents, grandparents, and great grandparents were Democrats. My children are Republicans.)
What is often mistaken for anti-Americanism in the European press is usually anti-Republicanism.
