Fear not. The Spanish will be back in the battle before long, and this time for real. Al Qaeda is not going to be mollified by this act of cowardice and retreat by the Socialists. They will only be emboldened and push too hard.

At some point what is going on will become intolerable to the majority of Spaniards, and the battle will be resumed. I feel bad for the Spanish Soldiers. I have heard reports that they are not thrilled about the election one bit. My son in Germany reminded me that the German troops on base in Weisbaden consistently go against orders and salute every Iraqi Freedom Veteran that they meet.

But what REALLY bothers me is that we, America, may topple over into that appeasement column ourselves if John Kerry wins in November.
