The DC Chapter of Free Republic set up a Viet-Cong Vets for Kerry bake sale in front of Democrat Presidential candidate John Kerry's national headquarters in Washington DC this afternoon. The Kerry campaign responded by calling the D.C. police to shut down the bake sale.
When the D.C. police arrived they ordered the DC Chapter to shut down the protest in 15 minutes or they would ticket them for occupying a public space without a permit. At that point the police would then disperse them themselves.
Due to the short notice, and the fact that it would be a small group, the DC Chapter did not apply for a permit.
Kristinn is scheduled to appear on Fox News this afternoon for an in-studio interview. The interview should air sometime between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm today. As more details become available, they will posted here.
Kudos to those that attended. The honor roll is Kristinn, Angelwood, TGSLTakoma, TBP, Trueblackman, and Staytrue.
Here is the link to the original announcement about the bake sale

It's "Viet Cong Vets For Kerry" to take advantage of sounding like Kerry's bull crap. Can you make that one?
This one looks great, but it doesn't follow the pattern Old Sour Puss has established.

Maybe the Kerry camp wouldn't have gotten so gassed up if it had been a baked bean sale.

Blocking the sidewalk? Was the officer able to make a determination as to the validity of the complaint? Or was he more interested in the seriousness of the charge?

Here's a quick and dirty.
I'll make a clean one tonight from the original source. Also, the original source is 3000 x 2400 pixels, which I can make available (as a .gif, .png or .jpg) if anyone wants/needs such a graphic.

I saw the bake sale report and observed these points:
-- They showed the Kerry bake sale first.
-- Then gave EQUAL time to the anti-Kerry bake sale.
-- They read off a few names of the anti-K bake sale items, which were VERY funny!
-- They showed FR bake sale LAST so the lasting impression was with you guys.
ROCK ON! Good job everyone! Shows that humor is better than hate any day.

"By shutting down the bake sale, the Kerry folks seem to have given more publicity to this bake sale than it ever would have had near Kerry campaign headquarters!"
. . .yes and on to . . .'Fox News!'
Great sale!

Kerry has no tolerance for American citizens. He attacks those who question his "authority."

How many cop cars did they dispatch? Two. For two cops. Which may explain why the D.C. government has money problems.

Did anyone think of the idea to bake some medals with ribbons that would be thrown towards the building in protest? A picture is worth a thousand words.....
Great idea, but for the possibility of a "littering" charge, and the subsequent twisted reportage of the event from the "other side".

I would like to see a sign titled: THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE
Then the picture of John Freakin' Kerry (the picture of him testifying) with the Viet Cong flag in the background.
The bottom would list his assignments: all the intelligence and military capabilities that he opposed!
