Kerry Rips Bush's Go-It-Alone Iraq Policy
Associate Press (who are so biased they are a parody of themselves) ^ | 17 April 2004 | NANCY BENAC

WASHINGTON - John Kerry aimed a new volley of criticism at President Bush 's handling of the situation in Iraq on Saturday, saying Bush's failure to "internationalize" the conflict has made America less safe and cost it credibility and momentum.

"Our stubborn, unilateral policy in Iraq has steadily drifted — from tragedy to tragedy," the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee said in his party's weekly radio address.

Kerry called for a new approach that would put greater reliance on other nations, but conceded "it won't be easy to get our friends and allies to send in new troops."

The Massachusetts senator said that while the United States should not retreat from Iraq in disarray, "staying the course does not mean stubbornly holding to the wrong course. In order to complete our mission, we must review our tactics."

Kerry called for removing the "Made in America" label from the Iraqi operation by creating an international mission authorized by the United Nations (news - web sites) to help set up elections, restore government services and rebuild the economy.

"The failure of the administration to internationalize the conflict has lost us time, momentum and credibility — and made America less safe," Kerry said.

Bush has been hoping to put a more international face on the U.S.- and British-dominated coalition. On Friday, he welcomed a proposal from U.N. Iraq envoy Lakhdar Brahimi on transferring sovereignty and called Brahimi's outline "a way forward to establishing an interim government that is broadly acceptable to the Iraqi people."

Earlier this week, Bush said he would like to get a new U.N. resolution "that will help other nations to decide to participate" in Iraq.

Kerry voted for the 2002 congressional resolution that authorized Bush to use force in Iraq. But since the U.S. invasion a year ago he has become increasingly critical of Bush's war management.

"Go-it-alone?"

If we are so "go-it-alone", why is Al Qaida kidnapping our allies and demanding they pull out or they will kill the hostages? Why did they murder that Italian man in cold blood on Friday John F?

If we are so "go-it-alone" why are the terrorists bombing innocent civilians and promising more terror on the eve of every election in Europe (and especially with our own this fall?)

I guess the admitted War Criminal Kerry thinks these nations are insignificant:

Poland

Japan

Austrailia

Great Britian

New Zealand

Spain

Italy

Portugal

This is insulting to the many countries that are supporting us in Iraq and especially to those who have lost soldiers in the battle. From kerry's point of view and the democRATS in general they do not exist. We are doing it all by ourselves. What a bunch of hogwash. Parley

This from a self-portrayed "Patriot"?

Along with the other specious and deceptive drivel spewed from this buffoon Kerry, I am starting to view this loser more and more as a Coward.

Kerry and the Dems are setting themselves up for a big fall. When the UN food for oil scandal hits the news about July the joke will be on the those who put so much faith in the UN.

Yeah, the "Oil for Food" program worked so well.

And Kerry can't see this, and Kerry doesn't care, and Kerry is doing just what he did during the Vietnam War.

Kerry has empowered the enemy ---- again!

Kerry appears to suffer from megalomania. Look at his record. Got to Vietnam, pick up the three scratches (3 Purple Hearts to rotate out), take movies of yourself strutting about in helmet , flak vest and rifle while in-country for political purposes later(that's truly, truly bizarre behavior), once in political office never, ever do, say or vote out of respect for any principle except for what's good for Kerry right then, court and marry extremely rich women to subsidize the ambitions.
Kerry is dangerous. His megalomania has no bounds. Like Klintoon, he is, at heart, a bottomless pit of selfish ambition. He is virtually incapable of caring about what's good for America or the American people but only what's good for John F. Kerry. That's been his track record throughout his life.

If the UN food for oil scam develops into a major scandal splashed across all the news services, I'll be so happy to come back here and apologize for saying there's no way that's going to happen.

He's another Clinton, all right. Fortunately, without the charisma.

There are many nations who are helping us, I can't recall the exact number, but I remember the President responding this criticism before by saying something like that would be a surprise to the whatever number of nations helping us! The AP should of course clear this misinformation up, but they won't.

John Kerry is so damn inspirational. He just gives me goosebumps, I'm certain he is a leader of the first degree, and he is indeed a gift from God to the American people. Or not.

I don't know...his ideas seem pretty clear to me:

Grovel to the U.N. for support, kiss Chirac's pasty French butt, hamstring our troops, and beg the world for forgiveness for being mean to terrorists.

I'm not sure I really want to hear the details...

Kerry's flopped back to his flip position.

Last September he was needling Bush to "accelerate" the transfer of sovereignty according to a "specific timetable" (to be established by U.N. fiat, natch).

Transfer of Sovereignty: Kerry was for an Iraq "timetable" before he was against an "arbitrary date"

Then, after Bush actually set a date -- as a compromise with the U.N., French, Germans, Russians, and etc, and negotiations with the Iraqi Governing Council as to the specific date -- Kerry switched to complaining that it was too soon.

Only a week or two ago he was calling it an "arbitrary date," and suggesting -- gratuitously, and in contradiction to the record that it emerged from negotiations over Iraq debt reduction with France, Germany and Russia, with the June 30th date being the latest acceptable to the IGC -- that the date was set and chosen by Bush to further his reelection. As if that were not odious enough, Kerry (and other 'Rat operatives) intimated over and over that the June 30th date was part of a "cut and run" strategy, ignoring clear and emphatic administration pronouncements that our troops will remain as long as necessary after June 30th to stabilize Iraq and secure the new government.

In short, Kerry is willing to subvert his own country's foreign policy, endanger our troops in Iraq, and sow fear and distrust among America's allies in Iraq and elsewhere by floating black helicopter theories accusing the American government of planning to abandon our efforts. But the minute a U.N. official speaks up, Kerry's right on board.
