I have ALWAYS believed that the Clinton administration sought to cover-up the truth about Oklahoma AND TWA Flight 800. Why? Because if the truth were made public, he might have to get his hands dirty in a war against terrorism, and perhaps tarnish his reputation. Another example of how Clinton's concern for his own "public likability" was more important to him, than the safety and security of our country.
Bill Clinton may have been concerned with his "popularity" but every attack on America and its interests was a strike at his "popularity". He never took notice of those "polls".
Here's a quote to support your position:
An Interview With Bill Clinton (long) The Atlantic Monthly ^ | March 2003 | James FallowsWe knew when we did the bombing in '98 that we hit all the known or suspected sites based on the intelligence we had, from all the people that were doing that work there. We knew at the time that we had set his program back a couple years. But sooner or later in the millennium the new Administration, whether it was Gore's or Bush's, would have to take this matter up again.
A real leader doesn't push off a problem for the "next administration" to deal with. Institute some safeguards against it becoming a problem. Take a course of ACTION.

Davis tried to report on these connections when she was working at our local NBC channel in OKC. Subsequently, she was fired and the station itself was sold to a New York company, if memory serves. She continued to follow the story anyway, despite a lot of criticism and (I understand) threats from people whose toes might have been stomped in the process. The Middle Eastern angle was never supposed to get out, despite the fact that the original APBs were for 3 "olive skinned" men, possibly of Middle Eastern origins.

I remember that when it all happened, there were reports that they were searching for a man of "middle eastern decent". That story went away fairly quickly, like within hours. Wonder if Jamie Gridlock, of the 9/11 commission fame, had anything to do with spiking that story?

Although Davis does not document Gorelick's role in Oklahoma City, media accounts routinely describe her as the director of the Oklahoma City task force, the so-called "field commander." As Davis has told me, someone in Washington called the FBI in Oklahoma City and issued a two-word directive on its investigation into Islamic terrorism: "Kill it."
OKC was covered up. From this statement, the implication is that Gorelick had more than cursory involvement. |

``If there was a watershed year, it was 1998. That significantly elevated our concern and resulted in a concerted effort, and a very strong program to go get Osama bin Laden,'' he said. One would think 1993 would have been the year that significantly elevated concern.
1,300 pounds of explosives blowing a 16 foot deep crater in the WTC parking garage, trying to topple one building onto the next, trying to kill more than 50,000 people.
``In general, the record is very clear that the Clinton administration increased counterterrorism funding and focus more than any other prior administration based on the emerging threats,'' Lockhart added. Some of the 1995 warnings were pointed.
1993 wasn't pointed enough for these feckless schmucks. That includes you Mr. Clarke.

This deflected attention away from the failed foreign policy of the Clinton era, as well as furthering the domestic agenda. Had it been admitted that , say OK City and Flight 800 were acts of international terrorism, the clueless (for solutions) Clinton administration would never have won a second term.
Definitely. How would BJ explain allowing, not just the mainland, but heartland, to be hit by foreign terrorists. We already knew WTC 1 was Islamic radicals. BJ needed the Chief Moose allegation -- 2 white guys. Luckily for BJ, Terry McVeigh was apprehended within hours and Nichols was apprehended not much later.
Case closed.
What about the ME looking guy with McVeigh?
Case close!!!!
What about the witnesses who saw ME looking guys in a brown vehicle about the time of the bombing?
Hey!! CASE CLOSED!! Get it???? Besides, it was the VRWC, Rush Limbaugh, etc.
[And the cover up continued for nearly a decade.]

1993 was a watershed event for me. I was crossing Liberty Street for a lunch meeting with folks from the COMEX in # 4 when the bomb went off. We were in pre-terror mindset and assumed that it was a PATH Train transformer expolding due to road salt seepage (it was snowing).
I didn't learn until hours later that it was a bomb. From that day on, any boom! I heard was never again thought of as a transformer going.

" There's something very fishy about the Clinton administration and Oklahoma City."
Something VERY fishy. Especially IIRC, they bulldozed and cemented over the 'crime scene' w/in days of the bombing.
And TWA 800 stinks as well. [

Many of us have posted, since 9/11 that the Rat objections to profiling were set up in the 1990's to enable the terrorists a free pass in America to travel to where they wanted to have a terrorist act.
With the uproar against profiling, if GW had gotten the word and had every terrorist arrested at the airports the morning of 9/11, he would still be getting hell from the libs.
