Call on Jamie S. Gorelick to Resign from the 9-11 Commission
From the AP:
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Sensenbrenner called on Jamie Gorelick to resign from the Sept. 11 commission Wednesday, citing a memo she wrote as a deputy attorney general on separating counterintelligence from criminal investigations. "Scrutiny of this policy lies at the heart of the commission's work," said Sensenbrenner, R-Wis. "Ms. Gorelick has an inherent conflict of interest as the author of this memo and as a government official at the center of the events in questions."
On Tuesday, Attorney General John Ashcroft released the declassified 1995 memo from Gorelick containing instructions that "more clearly separate" counterintelligence from criminal investigations. He said the "wall" between counterintelligence and criminal investigations was a key impediment to terrorism probes before the Sept. 11 attacks.
The Landmark Legal Foundation, a conservative law firm, also has called on Gorelick to step down, citing the memo.
A phone message left with the Sept. 11 commission was not immediately returned Wednesday.
I ask you to send the following email -- or your own -- asking Ms. Gorelick to do the right thing and step down. Please flood the commission with these emails.
Send the email to the following address: info@9-11Commission.gov; info@9-11Commission.gov
You may also phone the commission here:
Tel: (202) 331-4060
Fax: (202) 296-5545
Sample email is as follows:
Subject: Do the Right Thing -- Resign
Dear Ms. Gorelick,
Please do the right thing and step down from the 9/11 Commission.
In 1995, as Deputy Attorney General of the Clinton Administration, you drafted and signed a memo creating a wall between counterintelligence and criminal investigation, a key impediment to terrorism probes before the Sept. 11 attacks. As House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Sensenbrenner averred, "[s]crutiny of this policy lies at the heart of the commission's work."
This presents a severe and impermissible conflict of interest. There is "an inherent conflict of interest as [you are] the author of this memo and [are] a government official at the center of the events in questions."
Ms. Gorelick -- please do the right thing. If America is to believe that the 9/11 Commission is not merely a partisan sham aimed solely at damaging the Bush Administration, you must resign your position in light of this gross political conflict of interest.
I trust you will do the honorable thing and resign.
Sincerely,
YOUR NAME, YOUR ADRRESS, ETC.

Here is my 'bipartisan' letter to the Commission. It was sent via both email and snail mail today.
"Dear Commissioners Kean and Hamilton:
As an informed citizen and as a colleague of some of the NY State employees that perished at the WTC on 9/11, I have been following the hearings with great interest since the inception of the Commission. At this stage, I have several observations/suggestions that I would like to share with you. Please take my comments as constructive and from the heart.
-- After the recent revelation from Attorney General Ashcroft, I strongly urge you to ask for the resignation of Commissioner Gorelick. Having her continue to serve on the Commission is an obvious and glaring conflict of interest. In fact, after her resignation, the Commission should strongly consider calling her to testify about her involvement. Leaving Commissioner Gorelick on as a member of your panel will completely compromise her ability to demonstrate objectivity as well as cast a cloud over your ultimate findings.
-- Almost daily, members of the Commission appear on the network news shows providing commentary and analysis. In my humble opinion, doing so at this stage is a mistake as it appears to many mainstream Americans that some on the Commission have already made up their minds before the final report has even been completed. I would humbly like to suggest not discussing your ongoing investigation with the media until such time that your final report has been submitted.
-- There has recently been an obvious conscience decision by some of the Commissioners to politicize the hearings and to cast blame on a specific person or party. This, too, is a mistake. The attacks of 9/11 were carried out by our enemies, not by anyone from the current or from past administrations. It is imperative that your findings be considered bipartisan and impartial by the American public. To do otherwise would be to cast a veil of doubt and uncertainty over your ultimate findings and recommendations and to lesson their effectiveness as we fight the global war on terror.
I will forward a copy of my signed correspondence to you in written format for your records.
Thank you for your time and consideration."

This error message usually indicates that the mail server in question is rejecting all incoming email due to a file attachment limitation or a firewall misconfiguration. Keep in mind that many mail servers consider messages using HTML or Rich Text as actually containing attachments.
I just did a quick telnet test to their server's SMTP port, and their sendmail service does appear to be available at the moment.
Hope this helps a little.

I'd suggest marking it to the attention of the Commission chair and/or vice chair.

Maybe she is just a ego maniac who just wanted to get her name back out there. Fat chance. Remember who we're dealing with here--Hillary's coven. Nothing they do is accidental; everything is part of some devious plot, the end of which is not ego but power.
No, Gorelick knows she's skating on thin ice. Did you see the exchange during Condi's appearance, when Gorelick was questioning her? C-SPAN employed a split screen with Gorelick on the left and Rice on the right. The contrast was striking: Rice was calm, almost motionless, while Gorelick was squirming, gesticulating and making facial expressions like a spastic. The best part was when Rice deftly turned the tables on her and started asking her questions. It was obvious from Gorelick's demeanor that she was really nervous.

I heard Thomas Kean say last night that they wouldn't take her off the commission because she is one of the more 'non-partisan' of them all and had worked so very hard for them. I almost got sick. This whole dang Commission is a partisan 'RAT sham, imho ...
When we were attacked Dec. 7th, 1941, there were hearings .... AFTER we'd WON THE WAR !
