I haven't seen any polls yet on his speech but your assessment sounds about right.

I'm sure this stuff is important, but my eyes are glazing over. The purpose of holding televised hearings to sort out a new pecking order is what? Sigh.

"friends who may not vote for Bush." I've decided that any "friend" or relative mine who states they are not voting for Bush will get a question...."Are you a traitor, or just uneducated?" THIS election is about the future of the world and democracy.
To: kassie
I think Kerrey is trying to be the "star" of the 9/11 Commission. Maybe he wants to be Kerry's VP.
But my question is.......Why do they keep talking about the Cole attack as if it happened on Bush's watch.
The Repubs don't seem to be making the distinct difference. UGHHHHH
This whole Commission is to place blame..... on GWB.
I know, I know, that's NOT what they are 'supposed' to be doing.
We, here on this board know the difference, but the average American does not.

Dr. Deb keeps tabs on polls and is excellent in analyzing them. I haven't seen any poll results today...perhaps later in the day. Ping me if you find any.
To: mewzilla
This commission is too partisian to trust it or anything that comes out of it.

I need some help from you or someone else who watched all of yesterday's hearing.
I watched some of Chris Matthews afterward and he was stuck on one theme:
(shouting)
"The BIG headline out of today's testimony is that Clinton was a lot more aggressive on bin Laden than anyone knew. Isn't it clear?! that he ordered the CIA to kill bin Laden...not capture, not diminish, but KILL him!".
Mind you, I think Chris has gone 'round the bend in his Bush hatred. Even Fineman looked a little taken aback...probably because he was being spewed-on.
I was in and out yesterday and didn't hear any of the testimony about Clinton's "memorandum" stuff. What in the world is Matthews talking about? I don't believe this really happened because no other news outlet talked about it. Can anyone clarify for me?

It's tough but I shall endure LOL.
The polls today with Bush 36 in NY were better then I expected this early so it is possible.

One thing they all agree on is what a remarkable woman Condi is and that they respect her deeply. That part is good. Too bad they are blinded to how right this president is for these times.

Because though it happened on Clinton's watch, it wasn't established beyond a shadow of a doubt who the perps were until after Jan. 2001. (though there has been testimony that intelligence was fairly certain immediately it was Al Qaeda)

The only thing I can think of that would bring about such a strong reaction is Ashcroft dropping the dime on Jamie Gorelick and how she deliberately cut off intelligence between domestic and international intelligence.
Gorelick worked for Reno, who, by the way, paid the Clintons back for killing her off in Florida by basically supporting the Bush administration's testimony.

Hmmm...Is Tenet warning about a Kerry Admin? He is saying there is uncertainty in building an effective CIA because there is no appearance of sustained stability (support).

Well, Tenet just made an excellent point, the importance of looking further ahead. Getting budgeting and planning to multi-year schedules. That makes a lot of sense.
To: Timeout
Ben-Veniste asserted that Clinton issued a MON (executive memo) that ordered the killing of BinLaden. The memo was weasel worded, however, that agents should approach bin laden with intention to capture him, that they should not kill him, but they should use deadly force as authorized.
