John Kerry's need look no further for a Vice President. This potential VP satisfies 2 large (and some say only remaining) core constituencies of the Democratic party - feminists and appeasers. Her identity - former Clinton era Deputy Attorney General and current 9-11 Commission partisan Jamie Gorelick.
Most importantly for Kerry she agrees with him on how to fight terrorism. The declassification of a 1995 memo written by Gorelick clearly shows that she, like John Kerry, believes that law enforcement is the best way to keep our nation safe.
The only problem with the Kerry/Gorelick approach is that it's a proven failure that has led to the death of thousands of Americans. Even worse, the Kerry/Gorelick methods significantly restrain our ability to stop terrorists before they act. The result - a far greater possibility of more 9/11's.
The Smackdown you heard on your television today was not from the WWF (none of that WWE nonsense - here at crushkerry.com we're "old school"). Rather it came from Attorney General John Ashcroft who pulled no punches in correctly laying the blame for the failure to connect the dots pre-9/11 on the Clinton Administration's willful blindness.
We applaud Attorney General Ashcroft for telling these smarmy partisan hacks on the 9/11 Commission like Kerrey, Ben-Veniste, and Roemer, the unvarnished truth and for not backing down from their snide bullying statements, er, questions. He exposed the Clinton's Administration's Sgt. Schultz like-approach to evildoers and gathering threats - "I See Nottthhhhinnnng"
Gorelick's 1995 memo warned of the potential legal consequences of the FBI and CIA sharing information about terrorist activities. Her opinion was incompetently wrong. In 2002, the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review held that the artificial "wall" set up by Gorelick was not needed. Thus, due to the overly cautious and unnecesary "Gorelick restrictions", the government was fighting terror with one hand tied behind its back for 6 years.
The fatal flaws in the Kerry/Gorelick approach are the ultra-cautious insistence on playing by the "rules" and its reliance on lawyers.
We generally don't have a problem with rules. However, when you are in a war for survival and fighting an enemy whose only rule is to kill as many of you as he can, the rulebook goes out the window.
Unfortunately when your fight against terror is primarily "law enforcement" it too often requires the input and opinion of lawyers. Unlike the majority of the population we here at crushkerry don't have a big problem with lawyers - in fact some are on our staff.
Still, when it comes to matters of life and death like winning war on terror, we'd rather have brave heroes like those in the 3rd Armored Cavalry and 82nd and 101st Airborne on our speed dial instead the pencil-necked geek lawyers that would populate the Kerry/Gorelick Situation Room in the event of a crisis.
Ultracorrupt Democrat Gorelick obstructing the 911 Commission and most of the media.
"We Democrats even control the vote of the dead and control Congress as the minority party.
You bet that I personally dared refuse repeat DOJ requests for investigations of dangerous illegal aliens.
You bet that I personally arranged to stovepipe intelligence to make intraagency effective communication useless.
Why, I even arranged for the illegal aliens who were felons to be voters for our Democratic party.
Ha. You can't touch us becaue we even have John Aschroft's and each and every RINO's FBI file on our home and DNC computers.
So what are you wusses dare gonna do about it? Nothing
Your testicles are in my fist, so what are you wusses dare gonna do about it?
Absolutely nothing. Now go sit down and obey. "
These procedures, which go beyond what is legally required, will prevent any risk of creating an unwarranted appearance that FISA is being used to avoid procedural safeguards which would apply in a criminal investigation. . . and all this "profile in courage" cost was four airliners, the twin towers, a wing of the Pentagon, and three thousand lives.
And, now that it is exposed, it costs the credibility (strained as it already was) of the "September 11" or "Kean" Commission. It is now either the "Coverup Commission" or the "Gorelick Commission."
