Good point. I guess you can't have a stronger tie to the people being investigated than to actually BE one of them.

Mark Levin is ripping her a new one right now on his radio show!
And Richard Ben-Vineste! He's another worthless partisan HACK and THUG!
Gorelick was in charge of the DOJ with the daily ops and she FAILED to do her job! Now she WHINES about why the FBI and the CIA weren't "sharing information" when she knows DARN well they weren't allowed to BY LAW passed by RATS!

Republican staffers
Republican staffers ? Won't happen. Pubbies don't have the cajones to make it happen.
What did the Pubbies to with the Dem memo that said the Dems would attack GWB regardless of what the Commission concludes? If the Pubbies can't make waves with that memo, they sure aren't going to even come close to getting Gorelick to testify.
Dream on.

Why is anybody surprised that "the White House" (ie, the very highest level Republicans) failed to anticipate Democrat politicization of this commission. Democrats ALWAYS politicize everything, and Republican leaders NEVER learn that Democrats politicize. Why do our leaders have to be so damned naive????It's a mystery to me. Think of the Republicans as Charlie Brown, running up to kick a football, and the Democrats as Lucy, promising to hold the football, then pulling it away.

USA TODAY Commissioner Jamie Gorelick,
who did not attend the interview with Rice on Feb. 7, said she finds it "infuriating" that the White House would insinuate commissioners shirked their duty and didn't have a right to press for more time with Rice. "That's hooey," she said.

From that USA Today link you posted:
Scott McClellan says: ""Only five members actually showed up, despite the fact that it was scheduled for the entire commission," he said. What's more, he added, "you had another national security official under Dr. Rice who met with the commission, and I think only four showed up."
He told the press corps, "I think you need to keep that in context for your reporting."
Felzenberg said the commission never agreed to the terms in the November letter, which said that for a meeting with an assistant to the president, either the chairman or vice chairman of the commission must show up with no more than two other commissioners.
But the commission did agree to meet with Rice at her convenience, and the date and time she chose a Saturday afternoon limited the number of commissioners who could attend because several live far from Washington.
Tuesday, McClellan said all 10 commissioners were invited to meet with Rice on Feb. 7 and said the letter represented only "early guidelines" about meetings. Felzenberg said the commission was unaware of any such invitation.
This is the first I've read of any such prior stipulation about numbers of commissioners meeting with NCS staff. And McClellan goes on to say all 10 were invited. But their "reason" for not attending is very lame. Or else Condi is every bit as adept at rope-a-dope as GW is.

Remove her from the commission and subpoena her liberal a$$. She as well as Reno ought to be the ones forced to testify under oath.
The political witch hunt isn't going exactly as planned. The victim of the week, Condi handed Kerrey and Ben-Vineste their heads on a platter. Clark the darling of the left has come across and a money grubbing , egotistical liar.
Gorelick sitting on the commission attempting to white wash the Clinton admisistration is implicated as one of the main causes.

its hopeless. the WH has ZERO media strategy, no war room, no talking points, nothing. every Dem goes all over the talk show and media interview circuit and repeats the same lies over and over again. our guys can't even TELL THE TRUTH consistently.
To: swilhelm73
This commission has not come up with one new thing, and they know it. Every 'revelation' has been reported on in one form or another since Sept 2001. All that has happened is that the old news has been retold in a media saturated, politically charged light.
To: Peach
I will also add - I'm scared to death Bush is going to blow this press press conference tomorrow. I heard some of his comments on the white house lawn today regarding the PDB, it wasn't awe inspiring. they had better sit down in a room with Karen Hughes and read that damn thing sentence for sentence and coming up with the talking points to refute each and every point.
sometimes I think Bush should listen to Rush for a couple of hours a day to get his media prep down pat.
To: Fitzcarraldo
true, but its the death of a thousand cuts in the media. they just want to erode his support a little at a time.
To: oceanview
I just told Marc Racicot (sp?) via e-mail that Free Republic posters defend the president and his positions better than the administration does, so we're thinking along the same lines.
Roger ?? was sitting in for Rush today and said simply that the PDB said that the CIA could not verify that AQ was planning to hijack planes or use them as weapons. End of story.
It's frustrating because WE have better answers than either the president or his administration often have.

May I inquire as to what affliction Slade Gordon has? He acts as though he has no control over his face. I know what afflicts Thos. Kean. He is a northeastern RINO and should never have been selected to co-chair this committee. If regular people instead of country club Republicans were in charge, it would be an entirely different party and country.

"...how do we neutralize the RATmedia's 24/7 campaign of LIES.?"Simple. WE buy one of ABC, CBS, NBC and control the slant of the news away from the left. Present actual facts. And the beauty is that the entertainment programming pays for it all. The conservative viewpoint isn't even on the playing field of ideas.

I like the idea unfortunately anything requiring the billions (maybe 100s of billions) necessary to buy a network is not that "simple." Unless, of course, YOU have a couple of hundred billion stashed away under your mattress. Maybe THAT'S why it is so lumpy.

What delicious irony! The 911 commission if it is to do its job properly, must castigate a member of its own commission. Ashcroft did a masterful job today, I must say! He's gone way up in my books!
