Sony Plans Movie Based on Richard Clarke's Book
Former counterterrorism adviser Richard Clarke's best-selling book may soon be a movie.
Sony Pictures Entertainment has purchased the film rights to "Against All Enemies," Sony vice chairwoman Amy Pascal told The New York Times for its Saturday editions.
In the best-selling book, Clarke, a counterterrorism adviser to the past three presidents, charges that the Bush administration prioritized Iraq above threats from al-Qaida before and after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
The movie version is to be produced by John Calley, the entertainment group's former chairman, who worked on the 1976 Watergate drama "All the President's Men" at Warner Brothers.
"You could shoot the first 56 pages and have an extraordinary half of a movie, then it goes on to more enthralling stuff," Calley told the Times. "If we were able to do `All the President's Men' with people meeting in garages and whispering in parks, then certainly with someone sitting at a table in the White House we could have a remarkable event."
Clarke retired in 2003 after 30 years in government and reiterated the claims made in his book during testimony before the bipartisan commission investigating the Sept. 11 attacks.
Sony Pictures did not disclose terms of the deal.

Lest the "gun is jumped" maybe Sony snarfed up the rights to prevent it's showing.
It's a Long shot scenario I know.

From today's
NY Times Book Review of the Clarke book:
The first -- and by far the best -- chapter is a heart-stopping account of the turmoil inside the White House on the morning of Sept. 11, when Washington suddenly came blinking into a bloody new world. I hope Clarke has sold the rights to Hollywood, at least for his opening chapter, because I would pay to see this movie. You can guess who gets to play Jack Ryan in his retelling of that historic morning.

You know, at first I was inclined to dismiss it as a predictable throwaway movie that some leftist producer gets shown on some cable channel and then goes straight to video & is forgotten.
But then I thought about the Hollywood Ten and the HUAC hearings. When the hearings were going on, everyone in the country knew that every one of the Hollywood Ten were Communist Party cadre. But by the time I learned my American History in the early '70s, the Hollywood Ten had become a bunch of garden-variety (yet heroic) liberals who the mean anti-communist witchhunters nabbed off the street one day and railroaded before Congress.
I wonder when exactly the tide turned from the plain truth (the committee had every one of them dead to rights & everyone knew that) to a CPUSA-written fantasy about brave Americans fending off evil fascist dictators in the government? And how could that have happened? I figure it must have happened because everyone who was around in the late '40s just assumed that the truth that they read & heard about in their own lives would enter into history largely uncorrupted - so that future generations would learn the same basic truth of the story that they had experienced personally.
So the people let the leftists in academia turn communist propaganda into the Truth that was later spoon-fed to everyone of my generation.
So - h*ll yes we have to fight, expose, and ridicule this propaganda movie, and if we're lucky, snuff it out before it even gets off the page!

This is no different than the fiction that the alphabet news-hacks and newspapers create everyday to put forth their skiffy liberal message.
MESSAGE TO SONY: be careful what you wish for. Disney used to be a corporate heavy-hitter, now they're a has-been that Comcast is looking to purchase for pennies on the dollar. Don't think it can't happen to you.

Write letters to editors, emails to talkshows, phone talk shows, speak up when you hear President Bush disparaged in a public setting, assume that our PC opponents will respect the "diversity" of our "peculiar" opinion.
In the interests of decorum, for too many years we have kept our opinions silent, and given the enemies of true freedom control of much of the media.
Have you been to the website = www.georgewbush.com ?

Every movie made with Clinton as the subject can only be found at the New Fine Arts store (adult entertainment store for those outside of Big "D").

Whoops, the Central Casting Department just called and the movie will have to be abandoned....Pee Wee Herman has dropped out of acting due to other commitments and won't be available to play Dickie.

Well of COURSE Sony had to option this book. They needed a movie to compete in the marketplace with Disney's Michael Moore "October Surprise" (titled 'Fahrenheit 911').
