Post 'em!
Interesting design of the wagon. I wonder if it was built that way so it could float.

Interesting question. I bet it was - a century ago, they were still crossing streams the old-fashioned way. If a horse could navigate the stream or river with the wagon floating behind it, it was probably a lot more merciful on the undercarriage. And the horse. :-)

I'll have to do a Google search. It must have been near the end of the shows run. But that is the date in penill on the back of the photos. :)

Looks like it doesn't it? Maybe it made it easier to ford rivers.

Those are GREAT!
That used to be the high point of every little boy's (and some little girls') year - when Buffalo Bill's Wild West or the circus came to town.
Now the only time I hear it is when a horse acts up and somebody says, "Well, that was like Buffalo Bill's bloody Wild West Show out there!"

I love finding old pictures like this. Once in an antique store in Tappahannock, VA, I found a newspaper from 1919 with the front page having a speech from Woodrow Wilson warning the nation of the dangers of Communism. Fascinating! Reading the ads, the articles, the Op-eds, it was like stepping back in time..
