Any idea what 'service' is so classified?

I don't know, but I sure will be trying to find out. At the present my daughter needs to use the computer, she left hers at college while she is here for the Easter holidays.

In the meanwhile you may find something at this site: Mario's Cyberspace Station - The Global Intelligence News Portal - US Missles Struck Laden's Camp

Only way to avoid 9/11 would have been to ban planes

Peaceful Tomorrows and all of the other commies would support this idea. These are the same people who believe that there can't be too many airbags installed in a car (forget about encouraging safe driving habits)

Sorry to interrupt the celebration, but here's what will be spun tomorrow, IMHO:
1. We knew there were AQ cells in country.

Yes, it said we knew they had resided in or traveled to the US for YEARS.
Which means long BEFORE Bush was in the White House. Nothing new there. The FBI was investigating.

2. We knew bin Laden wanted to attack mainland.

Again, no surprise. We didn't need a PDB to know this.

3. The FAA issued warnings from June to September of possible AQ hijackings.

Terrorists might possibly hijack airplanes? Imagine that! Again this is nothing new and certainly nothing specific.

4. Knowing all that, AQ was still able to hijack four airplanes in a matter of hours on the same day.

"Knowing all" WHAT?
What information do you see that was specific enough to act on?
And what could they have done to prevent 9-11?

Shut down every airport in the USA and all US airspace from June 2001 on?

The Clintonistas must really hate that the Bushes spend a wonderful Easter time together as a loving family!

LOL. I gotta go, I have a room full of people reading over my shoulder and they insist we're gonna be late for dinner if I don't get away from this computer right now.

They don't have sense enough to know what they're missing.

You know, this is just like the National Guard Service story. It is recycled and brought back into the news as if it is something new that had not been investigated before. I specifically recall Dr. Rice having a press conference to address this back in 2002 -- the same memo.

Another phony story ginned up by the Democrats and the partisan press.

Actual excerpt from article linked at 640 that cites Fleischer, in 2002, giving the title of the PDB:

White House press secretary Ari Fleischer told reporters yesterday said the headline on the document was, "Bin Laden Determined to Strike the United States." But sources who have read the memo said the headline ended with the phrase "in U.S."

~snip~

That is EXACTLY what I said last night!

One poster, who did not sound like a Bush supporter incidentally, said look for the Moussaoui (sp?) issue to be raised next.

I'm going to guess that we're going to have to rehash the DUI before election day rolls around.

The timing of this thing is perfect -- Ashcroft is testifying Tuesday....
Note the following sentences from the PDB:

A clandestine sourcesaid in 1998 that a Bin Laden cell in New Yorkwas recruiting Muslim-American youth for attacks.

AI Qaeda members — including same who are U.S. citizens — have resided in and traveled to the U.S. for years, and the group apparently maintains asupport structure that could aid attacks.

The FBI is conducting approximately 70 investigations throughout the U.S. that it considers Bin Laden-related. CIA and the FBI are investigating a call to our embassy in the UAE in May sayingthat a group or Bin Laden supporters was in the U.S. planning attacks with explosives.

Any 'Rats want to scream about the patriot act now? Not to mention that the spin they are running with (predictably) that we should have done more then...

What I said is matter of fact.

islamics can still, today, have a crew aboard a plane and replay 9/11, almost anyday.

If someone can find that Rice press conference from back in 2002 I believe we will find that her responses to the questions were quite accurate as to the actual contents of this memo.

"Sorry to interrupt the celebration"

Exactly do you mean by that?

I think it means somebody is unhappy there is nothing in the Aug 6 briefing to hang Bush with.
And we need to be more sensitive to them in their grief. (ha ha)

Where's Bubba and Hippo?? Awful quiet out there. Probably meeting with a publisher as sooner or later, Bubba will publish that book. Would that be the same publisher as Clarke's... and Hippo's?? The whole Clinton gang is a bunch of egomaniacs.

Aha, found it right off the bat. Great idea:

National Security Advisor Holds Press Briefing

May 16, 2002

Press Briefing by National Security Advisor Dr. Condoleezza Rice
The James S. Brady Briefing Room

4:10 P.M. EDT

It's long. I'll link it here. When I get a chance to read it I'll post anything that pops out, or others can.
