Frustrating Day For Victims' Families ["Sept. 11 Could Have Been Prevented.”]
The Hartford Courant ^ | April 9, 2004 | DAVID LIGHTMAN

Posted on 04/09/2004 5:19:15 AM PDT by johnny7

WASHINGTON -- Condoleezza Rice never seemed to face her toughest audience Thursday.

Row after row of families of Sept. 11 victims sat directly behind her in the stark, cavernous hearing room, a silent chorus demanding answers. It was these families whose persistence led to the creation of the commission, and by the time the three-hour grilling of the president's national security adviser was over, they knew little more than when they came.

What about all the attacks leading up to 911.

Could the USS Cole been prevented?

What about Oklahoma's terrorism and McVeigh?

What about WTC I?

There are a lot of questions not answered because this whole ~Commission~ is one huge partisan "GET BUSH."

I deserve better than to have this circus broadcast. We all deserve better.

But what piqued their ire most was the oft-cited Aug. 6, 2001, classified memo called "Bin Laden Determined To Attack Inside the United States." To many families, this memo is akin to a smoking gun.

"That memo should be declassified and released," said Sanders. "Sept. 11 could have been prevented. You had terrorists able to get into this country and set up homes here, get driver's licenses, and they were able to do all this because our system was not working."

Stupid moron; this has long been the case. This ethereal memo is not anyone's smoking gun.

"For a few minutes there," said Gabrielle, "I got to see her squirm."

And there it is. There is the ultimate goal of all the leftists in this case. You can't get any more honest than that.

The moonbats want to make the Administration squirm. They want to force the Administration to fall. But they do not have an answer when asked the other big question: "Would Al Gore have done any better?"

Of course, the logical answer is not just no, but "Hell, no."

Maybe the reason they knew little more than when they came, was because many of the commission members were too obsessed with "getting" Bush and Condi.

I thought the commission was supposed to be about preventing future terrorism. But only one commission member ever actually asked her what would have helped prevent it.

It was all "tell me the name of the paper! No! Not what was in it! I want to hear you say it!"
Paraphrased - they are lawyers shilling for the Democrats, trying desparately to get their man in. That uppity black woman.

The news media is in full spin. Rush says it is a new day, and people see the bias. I hope he is right.

...and by the time the three-hour grilling of the president's national security adviser was over, they knew little more than when they came.

Note to the families: Read Richard Miniter's book Losing Bin Laden. That will give you more info than you'll ever get from this commission. And if you don't agree with what Kristen Breitweiser and her Teresa Heinz-funded friends are doing, you'd better start being more vocal. You need to make your voices heard.

Next they will say George Bush was piloting a 9/11 plane.
After that they will say George Bush was piloting all 4 planes.

After yesterday's disgusting circus, I emailed the Commission. I received a form answer saying they had received too many emails to answer them individually, so I am hoping that many others expressed dismay at the total waste of time and tax dollars that this shameless attack on Pres. Bush has turned out to be. The RINOs on the panel are typically pathetic, and the Dems are typically hateful, as are the partisan audience members who are never identified as Heinz-Kerry shills by the Democrat media.

I wish Condi would have laid down some ground rules of her own before the questioning began, such as:

"Gentlemen, I am here to answer your questions. After a question has been asked by you, I will repeat the question and then give my answer. Once I begin to speak, I will not be interrupted. Interruption will halt these proceedings.

I am here to answer thoughtful, relevant questions conserning the threat and actions of terrorist against the USA and it's citizens. Any attempt to be political or advance a particular biased agenda during the questioning will be my invitation out-the-door. Do I make myself clear, Gentlemen?"

I had heard that during her previous (closed) testimony, only half the commissioners showed up to ask Dr. Rice questions. Isn't it amazing what a few TV cameras will do?

To believe that any President (even Clinton) would have known about 9-11 in advance and have done nothing either out of ignorance or worse yet for some political agenda is ludicrous.

It is easy to say in hindsight that if this set of dots were connected we would have known. We have had better than 50 years of speculation about Pearl Harbor and whether FDR did know or should have known about December 7th. While the signals were there, no one at the time could have put them all together and prevented Pearl Harbor from being attacked. The same is I believe true about 9-11.

What the committee is ignoring however is that Clinton had many opportunities in 8 years to lessen the terrorist threat and capture people like Osama and didn't take those opportunities.

They were people like Monica Gabrielle of West Haven, who had traveled with other victims' families on the 3 p.m. Acela Wednesday. They were hoping, said Gabrielle then, to "hear the truth" about what the White House knew before the attacks.

Monica Gabrielle, who lost her husband, Richard, on Sept. 11, rallied in Washington in June to support creation of a bipartisan commission to study the events surrounding the terror attacks. Activism "is what keeps me sane," she said.

Monica Gabrielle, co-chair of Skyscraper Safety Campaign, joins victims' families in Washington, DC on June 11, 2002 to demand Presidential Commission to study 9/11 Intelligence Failures.

The People who lost loved ones that are looking to put the blame on someone other than the terrorist's will never find peace. What do they think of the families that have lost loved ones in Iraq?
