Al-Sadr's Militia Named After Messianic Image
By Tish Wells

[EXCERPT]
WASHINGTON - Muqtada al-Sadr summoned one of Shiite Islam's most messianic images when he chose the name Mahdi Army for his militia. The mahdi is believed to be the successor to Muhammad who will return to save the world.
The word isn't mentioned in the Quran or in the collected sayings attributed to Muhammad, known as the hadiths. But the term is common to both Sunni and Shiite branches of Islam as the term for a leader who will bring righteousness to the world.
The title means "the divinely guided one" but refers to differing concepts, depending on the believer. Some Muslims believe the mahdi will come in conjunction with the second coming of Jesus.

Well, someone has done enough homework to find out that the Mahdi is a "messianic" person, but they still haven't figured out that this means that the Islamicists think this is the End of the World.
It would've been nice if the reporter had explained that "return to save the world" means killing or converting every infidel on the planet, until the entire Earth is under Shar'ia law.

The appearance of the Mahdi is one of the Signs of Qiyama (Signs of the End Times).

The Mahdi appears to kill
the Dajjal. Guess who that is?
And understand that Mohammed's prophecies in the Hadith guarantee -- in their minds -- that they will be victorious over "the Dajjal."

'The title means "the divinely guided one"'
Is another translation "the Anti-Christ?"

In the Hadith, 'Isa -- the Muslim version of Jesus -- descends on a cloud, subordinates himself to the Mahdi, joins the Mahdi's army, and helps him kill the Dajjal and every other infidel.
'Isa also destroys all the Christian churches, breaks all the crosses, berates Christians for believing him a divine person of the Trinity, and berates the Jews for not recognizing him as the messiah. He also kills all the pigs. After the Mahdi has conquered the world, 'Isa dies peacefully and has a big funeral.

Many Freepers know what the Islamic Mahdi is. So does this black turbaned punk Sadr think he's the Mahdi? He wouldn't be the first.

Osama bin Laden graduated from King Abdul Azziz University in 1979 (Muslim year 1400) Certainly he was affected by the Grand Mosque episode with that self proclaimed Mahdi.
