"I know Bret means well, but the wounded ARE casualties. Does he mean KIA? The media confuses everything."
Pray REALLLLLL HARD, cause I just heard there are indeed MANY KIA! A high top offical confirmed it to Bret.....:( PLEASE DEAR LORD LET IT BE A FALSE REPORT SOMEHOW!
To: MEG33
Significant KIA Bret is saying...Prayers for the loved ones. Prayer for the coaliton troops on the ground.
I missed who the talking head is on Fox News, but he stated that the US KIA is in double figures.

"May the attackers pay a high price."
They will. I wonder how many of these are "Pilgrims" from Iran.
To: Pukin Dog
My point is that our intel apparently did not prepare for this widespread spate of attacks. I'd hate to think that the low level of intensity over the last 11 months has let the airpower arm of our forces lose focus, as they haven't had much to do.
I'm not doubting that we will win the overall engagements. But as we are also in a propaganda war, losing 50 Americans in a day or two would be a serious setback, and would be used to evoke Vietnam, as the Swimmer did.

I assume that's a joke? He's a darn site better than Hagel...

Gibson is asking if coalition decided to deal with Sadr now. Military guy says better to do it now while we have an extra division.
To: joesnuffy
God bless the combat vets of VN and Iraq and all of our wars. I hope the latter get a better welcome home than you guys did.

Unfortunately, the so-called insurgents are playing to the media and the US leftists like Kennedy who want to use these attacks as a political opportunity and to cut and run like we did in Somalia. GWB is going to have use the bully pulpit to let the American public know what is at stake and why we must stay the course.

Australian paper reporting that Sunnis and Shiites are uniting against the US for the cause. Remember the Hitler-Stalin pact that started WW-II?
The militant Sunnis are getting together with the militant Shiites to try to drive out the US and eliminate the possibility of any democracy in Iraq. The Sunni/Baathists in western Iraq figure they can align with Syria, while the Shiites are likely in the pay of the Iranian mullahs
They would rather split iraq into two dictatotships that they can rule
